We built a house using poured concrete in Lapu Lapu 12 years ago. Two years after construction, the worst earthquake in 300 years happened. Compared to hollow block houses in the area, our house was pretty much unscathed. A few hair-line cracks here and there. one tile was broke in the upstairs bathroom. No broken windows. The contractor tried to talk us into using hollow block. We are sure glad we persisted on poured concrete. Congrats on your awesome project there. I wish you and your wife many years of happiness!

ALL CONSTRUCTION companies in the Philippines are local until just recently when they allowed foreign companies. In other words 99 percent of skyscrapers that you see in Makati, BGC and other modern enclaves were built by Filipinos. In Dubai, many luxurious buildings there were built by Filipinos. It just depends on your budget if you can afford to build one luxurious home. Start with a good architect. 😊

I can´t believe that you remembered a comment from a year ago. Thank you for reminding me of this upload. Much appreciated. Really, a very considerate thing to do. Can´t think of anyone ever doing something like that especailly in your league where you have a lot of comments to process. The bathroom you saw in the beginning of the video is my style. Spacious, simple and easy to clean. Ever since my stay in Japan I became a big fan of these bathrooms. Just clean everything with the faucet, turn on ventilation and rub off the last bits of water. The house in general is very spacious maybe a bit too much height wise, but that´s preferential wouldn´t mind living in it ,but wouldn´t build it myself. Had a very bad experience with ceiling fans, can´t trust those things anymore :D Shawn is such a well organized person. I really like that. I´ve already wrote down the advice about the ants. The drawers in the kitchen made me chuckle. Family household feelings. The utility room shocked me a bit. Especially after seeing the rest of the house. :D

I’d do a few mods. I’d make sure that the roof overhangs are more overhanging and any patio area in the back is put at least a partial roof of some sort over Also, I’d make sure that the air on units outside are covered or in the shade a lot of the time. Also on the roof I’d do solar panels

Hi Mike, I was hoping you would include footage of the widened highway heading south. I used to drive my motorcycle south from Dumaguete back in the mid-1990s and it was like nobody lived there. It was like the only place I knew in the Philippines that reminded me of the USA in terms of no population. How much has it changed and especially heading south of Dauin to Zamboanguita? 20:45 I was going to ask what they did to defeat ants, and so I see their solution is make sure they can keep the food sealed. That still is a pita to make sure every tiny crumb is cleaned up immediately. I have contemplated lifting the foundation and have a moat to prevent ants from crawling in. 26:00 love hearing the birds or critters at the end in the back yard.

Beautiful house, Can Sean give information on the shipping company he used; we are both dual citizens me, UK/US and wife Filipino/US (no children) and we have 3 houses already, Cavite, Catanduanes and Pampanga and luckily all houses built concrete and steel rods especially stronger in Catanduanes (Thank goodness), no mortgages and now we are looking to ship all our furniture from our 4 bedroomed house here in Texas in April / May 2025
