In this episode, I learn how to make strawberry mochi, or ichigo daifuku in Japanese, with professional Japanese sweet maker, Daisuke Kawakita. I'm also joined by Adrienne Hruby from the [bridging asia] KZbin channel. We learn how ichigo daifuku is made and try to make it ourselves.

Unfortunately the coronavirus has affected business and Daisuke Kawakita's stores have been shut down permanently. We're incredibly saddened by this news a would like to thank Kawakita sensei for allowing us to learn from him and wish him all the best for the future.

Wow the amount of effort in concealing the strawberries

Yeah, for beginners like us it's such a process. But Kawakita-san can do it in his sleep.

He makes it look so easy. that loooks so yummy after Adrienne bit into it showing the bright red strawberry! LOL he likes hip hop, would not expect that. Very cool! Thanks for taking us on this making process, it's really interesting!

I love daifuku! I wish I could get it here! I especially like white bean paste as apposition to red. It’s also strawberry season in Japan so it must be so delicious! 👍🏽💜😋💜

Yeah, absolutely! Kawakita-san made a point about the seasonality of fruit for his daifuku so he uses whatever is in season and loves them all. 😁
