@@SasiRaj-1105 traditionally there are few gods in sinhala culture and everyone of them are related to buddhism.. like vishnu who is the protector of buddhism since then.. we call him upulvan deyyo.. Katragama is also started by early sinhalese settlers most probably as in ancient times north indians worshipped kartikeya more popularly than south indians.. Kartikeya gama>kajjaragama>kataragama.. Kataragama got two meanings in sinhala.. The village of kartikeya lord or the village from the deserted area.. Katara=desert gama=village

And no, in our traditions vishnu is the protector of buddhism.. it is not recently add up but from the beginning traditionally it is like that.. This building is a buddhist temple but with a hindu and sinhalese mixed architecture.. I belive many of u guys have seen Whats dravidian hindu architecture here but the sinhalese architectural fetures are moons stones,Dwarf fegures,crocadile etc.. This further proves that this is a budhhist structure acording to the inscription found there written in sinhala.. Nalanda gedi ge in sinhala means nalanda brickhouse.. the name isn't that ancient..😅

Those ruins belongs to Sinhalese kingdoms like Anuradhapura kingdom (437 BCE-1017 CE), Polonnaruwa kingdom (1070-1215 CE), Kurunegala kingdom, etc. Sri Lanka has more than 4000 Sinhala inscriptions. But There's only about 150 Tamil inscriptions in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is land of Sinhalese. That's why it was called as 'Sinhala' in ancient times. Also It's a Buddhist country since 3rd century BCE.

@@rathy_v What are the Tamil ruins in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa? Are you referring to the ruins left by the Chola invaders? The Cholas attempted to establish Eelam in Tamil Nadu before bringing it to Jaffna during their invasions. They invaded Sri Lanka in the 9th century CE and built Shiva temples in Polonnaruwa after their conquest. However, the Sinhalese dynasty was established in Sri Lanka around the 6th century BCE, over 1500 years before the Chola invasions.
