Capture strategy is very important for a great scan. Other LiDAR Only apps have drift issues as well due to ARKit relying on visual tracking and inertial odometry. However, most scenes are very small and people do not see the drift unless it's references against professional scan data.

did you tried using kinect v2?

I have one that is in a cabinet…I used it a long time ago when it was a thing but there are other sensors to play with nowadays that are a bit more robust and easier for mobility.

Does this app works also for ipad? which models please? I have not tested for iPad but my own app, Recon-3D does. It is still in beta but soon to be released.

Great content 👍 thank you for the video . Do you think that lidar scan can be useful in surveying application ? I understand that we have a big deviations between actual measurements and phone scan(😀) on a long distances, but if we would like to try to fit in the scan of a small area to some reference points we can achieve acceptable accuracy ?

Yes, I think this is possible but will get better with time and better apps that allow for control points.
