I think Twilight Princess had a better implementation of a "forest temple" than did Ocarina of Time. The latter's was more of an abandoned mansion that had more of a ghost theme than anything truly forest related. The former is actually build around tree roots, navigating with vines. Seems to play up to the premise better. That's not to say OoT Forest Temple was bad, I just never felt it had much to do with any forest related.

Well, the Forest Temple was a temple in the forest. You could say the one in OOT was being more literal than being an aesthetic title. Plus, anyone that gets lost in the woods becomes a stalfos, meaning there's some theme of the dead going on in those woods, so it's not entirely off to push on that. Although, that does make it the odd one out compared to all the other temples in that game, which go harder with the aesthetical name.

I gotta agree with this take. The Forest Temple in OoT seems more like a semi-Shadow Temple than anything else. Feel like MM, WW and TP nailed their forest temple elements.
