Thank you for your kind words . I have looked at those tools and parts over the years and wondered what to do with them . This was so perfect , I loved watching Shane splice his belt and I knew then I had found a deserving home for those parts . I had the almost exact setup as yours , mine was Better Built from Salt Lake , Utah . We called the seed duster the cannon . Looking forward to watching the process from my easy chair . True statement as it is easy to recognize , you are hard working people . I used to operate a Bobcat with their version of a Fecon rotary drum forest masticator . I was dealing with overgrowth of Lodge pole pine . Great tool . Front door 1/2 inch lexan . Anyway You made my evening , keep up the good work and another awesome video . I wished you were not clear across the country , I have 2 16 ft Logan SUB beds that I am sure you could use .

Dan, I know Shane thanked you already. I have been with Dave all day today getting potato seed in Northern Maine. I’m just getting to answer your comment. Thank you so much for sending us that package. You are a very kind person! And your letter was so thoughtful! I am framing your letter. The tools will get lots of use, but the support and kindness you showed us is heartwarming. Thank you again!

@@BellsFarming You are most welcome , I know hard work when I see it and I have much deserved respect for what you and the family have going on . I know that is enough lacing for many years . I farmed in a potato parts desert . My nearest potato parts store was 150 miles . Keep in mind this was before Amazon or the internet . No setting down and texting off your order . My only suggestion is play along the way , we get old way too fast . No one in their final days , comments , I wished I would have worked more ... All the Best

Your farm set-up seems to have (to me) very few people working there. I suppose that's why you have so many machines. In S.Africa they probably use more manual labour. Not sure what it's like on the big potato farms. So glad I found this channel: thanks.

Absolutely fascinating, from the multi-use of buildings (moving equipment in and out) to the specialized equipment for seed cutting (I wonder how the first generation did the work?), to the use of the mulcher to keep down the encroachment. I remember using hand loppers and a chain saw and how lucky we felt with the advent of a brush saw!

Thank you so much for watching! We are lucky to have all this equipment. And some of it only gets used for a few weeks out of the year! I’m glad we don’t have to cut all the see by hand. But I can appreciate the work that all the generations before us put in to get farming practices where it is today!

This is a most impressive operation. I had no idea what potato farming involved. Your financial cost for building and equipment must be enormous. And I thought a hay barn was expensive and s small one at that. And like all farmer you have to work around weather and it never seems to be in step with the crop timing and the farmer timing and than there the inevitable equipment break down when everything seems to be going quite well. Farming is just not for everyone. Thank you for sharing how all this works. For what potatoes cost in the retail stores this type of farming has to produce a lot of tonnage at harvest or your margins could be very low. I assume that harvesting is very time sensitive as to when the potatoes could go bad.

Hey Molly & Shane I really enjoy watching forestry mulching it’s very gratifying see all the overgrowth disappear and an area get turned into usable land. I’ve seen one of those on a John Deer skid steer that had high flow capacity and that thing was scary, just could not be with three to four hundred feet. The only thing I think they lack is you can’t grind up the root system oh whatever you cut down, especially on those Alder trees they’re eventually going to grow back. I almost wanna take an excavator after I’ve done mulching and dig up all those roots systems. I think in the long run the time that it would save not having to go back again and again. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Hmm…then again what would you do with all those root balls!?Ah man it never ends! 🤣

Shane is like me, a loose end of a tie down, has to be secured. If it flaps around, the cops will think the tie down is loose and pul” you over.

Looking forward to see it all in action. We were suppose to get rain the last two days. But as per usual, it blew past us. Living on top of a gravel bed, rain is so important for all the greenery. We just don't get it.

🤔 Why does Molly always tell Shane to take it out and play with it? Great video glad Shane got to take his new toy out and play with it. Can never have enough brush clearing toys.

I truly enjoy your channel , look forward to each and every episode . A few comments , Ratchet straps , always a challenge to deal with the excess strapping , I loved it , Shane , oh that will get me home ... LOL . On a personal question , Molly I seem to sense this is maybe your first seed cutting season ? One time years ago I had a wreck going on with my seed , I took delivery early , It was warmer than normal , wet spring , late into the field and sprouted seed , OMG what a nightmare ... If I come to Maine do you think I could get Shane out of the skid steer ? I totally enjoyed operating one with a forestry head , nice results . Good day

So last year I was in the tractor the entire time they were cutting seed, so I missed the working days. I have seen it done a few times over the years. But I am working full time at the farm now. So I will make time to make a video while we are cutting seed this year. So yes, you are right. Thank you for all of your support! It is people like you who make this channel what it is. Your comments and kindness keeps me motivated to put out videos for everyone! 💚

Ok now I understand 100% what seed cutting is or maybe about 50% 😄. That mulcher looks like a beast 😳. If you got the shirt today maybe you know what the secret message was? I thought it was clever to say what it was with a hashtag you Potato Queen.🤪
