the way I understood the rules was the super villains are always played facedown and not flipped until the turn ends. and you don't refill the lineup until the end of the turn. I could've misunderstood though.

I learned how to play at Wondercon by a Cryptozoic employee in a easy to teach format, we just never migrated to the real rules, we totally should though, next time we play we'll try to reteach everyone. :)

around the 7 minute mark when the middle player defeated superman, the next super hero cards are faced down. the player in the middle discards his hand therefore discarding the defense card. after his turn and before the next player's turn, the next super hero is turned face up and its first appearance attack happens. the player in the middle will not be able to defend bcos he no longer has the defense card in his new drawn hand.

Haven't finished part 2 yet so not sure if it's addressed but the gameplay happening isn't how it states in the rule book
