Forever Winter Bugged Mg34 And Hunter Killers Are Fun (Not)

A couple of runs on ashen mesa one with me trying out the MG34 and another doing a typical loot run and trying to level up my SVD so I can get my scope back.
also please sort out the hunter killers fun dog, I know they are supposed to be punishing but jesus their trigger is way too sensitive right now

It sort of makes sense for more valuable items. You don't want a random scav running off with your valuable military tech when you could scavenge it after the battle. But it is still a bit odd.

they trigger every time you pick up a quest item.... and when you kill too many enemies.... and for nuthing else... ya the need to be adressed tho.... i had to run mesa 500 times to get a godamn picture out of a box.... triggered on the picture item every damn time lol

nah i saw on discord someone just opening a chest over and over again and that triggered them, also if you look at my inventory after they spawned on here you'll see i had nothing really that valuable...they really are just too sensitive right now

The hunter killers are more working on RNG instead of the reason why the devs really need to rework this mechanic or explain WHY we getting them cause figuring it out on aware on when some people just spawn in and 1 min pass they get hunted really doesn't explain why tho

There are certain valuable items that will auto trigger them, but they also trigger if you take too much value, or if you take more than 2 water.

Yeah the fact that they spawn based on loot value is wack. Like how could they possibly know what stuff you're carrying? And even if they did, why would they send HKs after some random scavs over a mech or any other significant threat? It just doesn't make sense. Their spawns should be tied to you killing too much stuff and nothing else imo.

Now, as promised, the list of items that 100% (or near 100%) guarantee Hunter Killers/Scramblers to spawn. - Weapon Tech - Cyborg Components - Data Cache - Neurolinks Also worth noting, there are other items you can pick up, which while they don't cause HK spawns, they do cause all other hostile NPCs to take more of an interest in you - aka Their '?' meters fill significantly faster, and they will search for/follow you for much longer when you do trigger a '? Status' on them. Similarly, they'll chase you longer once they fill the '?' and go hostile. Lastly, i'm not 100% sure about this last part, but the effect seems to stack/scale with how many of these items you are carrying. - Europan Portable Targeting System - Euruskan Plans - PDA - Europan/Eurasian Drone Debris - Schematics - Hard Drive - Officer's Laptop - Dossier - Telemetry Essentially anything marked with 'Intel' within the item description will cause NPC's to become more... "curious" about you and willing to gun you down. Which while it doesn't make sense that every soldier on the field telepathically knows what's in your pockets, it does make a certain amount of sense that soldiers would always be after Intelligence, whether recovering their own faction's, or gathering enemy Intel.

My first comment this was meant to be a reply too got deleted; But something to be aware of that's extremely helpful to know: _HK AGGRO/SPAWNRATE IS A CUMULATIVE EFFECT THAT IS NOT RESET UPON LEAVING A RAID_ HK Aggro/Spawnrate is only reset upon death. So if you're finding that HK's are spawning on you at the drop of a hat, like they're on a 3min timer, or the second you pick up _any_ item, just go into a raid after ditching all your equipment/items, nothing but the Surplus Rifle/Shotgun with the ammo in their magazines, and the starter rig on your back, and get yourself killed on purpose.

I've had weapon tech not trigger the killers... but also trigger them. But I've never actually faced them yet, always just bolt to extraction.

Hunter killers is not a good mechanic as of right now. They need to either get rid of it or fix it quick. Ridiculous someone can open a box 20 times and boom! Ur dead.

It'd be good if Hunter killers played off the amount of heat you had on you at the moment. Instead of loot, have it scale with the amount of people you kill (and got caught killing.)

It's a terrible mechanic that seems to try and make up for the bizarre and unpredictable AI to force combat encounters. But its so unpredictable on when it goes off that it feels downright unfair

That's bullshit. Like, I enjoy the concept of Hunter Killers being a less contrived raid timer, and their unpredictability ensures that no matter how confident you get, you'll never be THAT GUY, but punishing you for just looting I'm general?. That's dumb.

@@grimgrahamch.4157 I played a lot today, and there are a couple more triggers for Hunter Killers. If u ever carry 3 water reserves(large containers on ur rig), Hunter Killers r guaranteed to spawn. Rare items such as neurals and map-exclusive items also trigger them. With every container u loot, the chance for Hunter Killers gets higher. For the mech trenches specifically, I did a few runs opening the exact same storages, and the HKs always spawned on the exact same one. As it is, HKs r complete jank like a few other parts of the game. However, killing HKs by abusing AI behaviour(e.g. hiding behind cover or jumping to higher ground) does reward u a lot, especially if u have a good weapon(e.g. auto shotgun).

Hunters spawn because of different things, but the following is guaranteed: Quest items (Even when you have not enabled the quest yet) " picture of couple" and " weapon tech" are the ones i have noticed so far. The picture is only worth 93 credits but the weapon tech is worth like 9000.

So the Hunter Killers must be bugged because despite this being a 'brutal' game I just do not think the devs would make it so interacting with the core mechanic (looting) literally kills you. That's complete nonsense. Either they are bugged or we do not understand why they are being triggered, and we're just blaming looting. I think this game has the stuff but it absolutely needs a lot of work.

The first box I looted on ashen mesa instantly spawned hunter killers, about a minute into the mission. Very fun. Cyborgs can also wander into the starting point there, and enemies often camp the bridge to the extract or the extract itself. Had to run it like 4 times to get my first barrel of water. Two time killed by soldiers/hunter killers on the bridge to extract that aggro'd from a good 60m away, then by an eurasian drone that executed me, 2 of them camped the exit for a good 8 minutes along with running cyborgs. Not to mention 3 tanks spawning so close they almost ran me over... Ironically, the run where hunter killer didn't spawn, was when I killed 16 cyborgs right in the starting town on Mesa. Message showed up that scramblers were deployed instead, but nothing spawned. Yeah, these things definitely need some work, or at least an explanation

Took me 25 minutes to run around Ashen Mesa as Bag Man and even then I didn't check that spot before crossing the bridge to the extract point nor the area above the extract point. This map is huge!! You can actually nearly get behind that big land ship that's in the distance, wouldn't recommend it though cos there's nothing there lol🤣 I can't find the map for the "Find the map for water" to save my life!! I wonder if some of the quests aren't doable.

If you want to get 20000 more do a graphic settings video. I'm struggling with constant fps drops on a 3080. I assume a lot of people have a hard time getting it stable. What are your specs since your experience seems butter smooth?

How did you get the Mg34? Also for the HKs I just fill my bag first, then grab the quest items, and lastly bee-line to the exit. Works every time for me on ashen mesa since I understand the loot and mob spawning.

MG34 comes from Europa once you get to trade level 2 with them.

Hunter Killers get sent after you by picking up explosives. It's timed, and seemingly random. I suspect it's only if you take more than 1 explosive. You've got a handful of minutes before they'll show up after taking the explosives. I've triggered them multiple times this way by going after explosives only, and no other loot, on maps like Elephant and Mech Trenches. A friend of mine has a theory that HK's or Scramblers in general will be sent after you over a certain time period. So far I've had hit/miss with this. Run off to safe-ish map spots and just hung out. Had HK's sent after me after like 20+ minutes on one occasion. Other times nothing happened. Saw a post on the Steam Forums talking about HK/Scramblers, and according to the OP of that thread he said HK's become less aggressive and spawn less after you die. The more runs you extract alive, the more likely they are to just show up no matter what. Best way to break the cycle is to ditch everything, and go get killed on a run to reset your "bounty" as he was calling it. I've played around with this theory and results are inconclusive. Also, I wrote a character guide on Steam for those interested. Just look for "A Breakdown of the Character Classes" by yours truly for some insight into each character.

If you want to easily complete Adv. First aid kits or explosives. You can take them into the mission, drop them, and pick them back up. It counts to the quest

The biggest improvement they can make to QoL is working on the spawn issues. For HK's especially. I don't mind their effort to make it not a certainty when/if they'll spawn, but they need to not drop in so close you can see them do so.

The retrieve explosive barrel is bugged and activates on its own, even if you have 3 active quests making it possible to have 4 active. It is a bug, but this one I dont mind xD

my issue with the hunter killers is that they can wallhack to spot you, and once they do, they never lose track of where you are. you can't even run or hide, they'll get to you. They ignore other enemies to get you even when those AI shoot the hunter killers :(

Funnily enough on ashen if i pickup the ashen specific neurolink they dont trigger but the goddam picture or regular neurolink they trigger everytime,but definitely partly rng too ,they need to just tone it down to then spawning if u kill a bunch or pickup high value stuff

I think the reason is the value of thing you carry. When you have a lot of stuff you'll be seen as a valuable target, or you're deemed a threat to forces enough to send a hunting party to you. To put it short, try to not shoot everyone, try to not loot everything? Don't even have clue man...

The worst is when they send a stalker or brawlers, they are faster than and they can 1 tap you, also i noticed how at my first hour of games i got out about 10 times easily and then they xake afterwards too often, definitely needs tuning
