Kayleigh when you slice the onion into 2, wash then under the running water while rubbing the inside layer of the onion and then start chopping them. It won't sting or burn your eyes.

Kayleigh try putting the onion in the fridge a few hours before you slice it, cuts down on some of the smell and tearing and burning! Happens to me all the time! ☺

Beautiful as always!! I had the exact same problem while slicing onions, my eyes would water that instant moment I would start slicing. And the burn in my eyes- it was awful! And you would't believe what fixed the problem- wearing contacts!! Since I've started wearing them, no more crying :)

Cute video, when cutting onions make sure you cut with the grain. First cut the bottom then top off to make it stable, slice down the middle of the onion to make two half. Then cut in the same direction as the lines o the onion (with the grain). This causes the onions to release less fumes which sting your eyes. Also be sure your knife isn't dull and you slice as opposed to chop! I know that was a lot but I hope that helps. Craftsy had a great course on how to use knives for food preparation.
