I personally break out my iPad, open StaffPad, transcribe out applicable parts of your lesson to what I want to learn and use, edit and add additional instrumentation. And of course, learn and play on my piano. I love your channel for this! I've been watching long enough to remember missing your long hair look from many years back.

It's as if you read my mind and then made this video!! I was trying to figure out how pianists improvise to come up with melodies & harmonies and this tells me so much. I knew they had to have some kind of plan, nobody improvises and decides what to play a millisecond before playing the note, they must have a general plan they are following and this video has answered my questions. Fantastic! Please do more videos for songwriters! Thanks Jason and team, your channel is amazing and i don't know why you don't have a million subs!! Best wishes from London. 😃

Another great lesson! Thanks! I've got some cord progressions, and I learned from a previous video how to improvise melodies off the cord a little. This lesson gave me even more ways to improvise and create. (I sure wish I could sing melodies over the chords like you, but ugh...)

Thanks for the lesson Jason. After watching this video I would like you to expand on putting chords to a melody. In that regard also how to expand past simple harmony and use extended chords, borrowed chords, diminished chords etc. I personally can’t get enough music theory song composition videos. I am going to check out cadences after watching this video.

Great video, what scales are good to use when u go to certain chords in the major scales, say your in E major for example, would the E major scale sound good to improvise over every chord in the particular scale?
@nathanielschool
@nathanielschool Жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris! You can use all the modes or scales with align with specific chords of a progression. Say for the E major chord, you could improvise on Major, Pentatonic, Lydian, Mixolydian a few more!
