why was the same sword used for the sharpness test twice? Im a big fan of the show but this demands an explanation! Except that warp he outperformed his opponent and getting played like this is outrageous. I mean i know the whole thing is rigged but have some decency.

I think it’s because both guys accomplished the Damascus blade. A lot of guys start with a Damascus but scrap it due to imperfections from the forge welding. I knew he was going to lose after the warped blade and second quench.

Just an observation but I'm sure that the shield makers from the past knew to make them with the grain of the wood horizontal as they would withstand an over hand strike much better and that blow would be much more likely to occur than a side strike. I really enjoy these vids though. Good stuff.

both blades look gorgeous side-by-side! I do love the elegance the 2nd blade gives. Those slanted damascus pattern are top notch! The first one's handle maybe bit bigger, but it's absolutely stunning as well, it reminds me of rattan for some reason. The handles alone gives you different feel - like how the first Dha looks like it was wielded by a native warrior, while the 2nd one feels like the Dha has been wielded by a crusader.

It's interesting to see how they doctor the footage now by going super fast then super slow mo so we can't see Doug intentionally mis-align the blade of the sword swinging into the tatami mats (to rig the results against the black handled participant). I understand shows have writers but dishonesty is repugnant.
