it is a balance between sharp and durable he came out on the wrong side (to thin it will roll and chip easily to thick and it will just not slice )

W Mose That's exactly the problem I had. Edge geometry designed to bust ice blocks and go through car doors. Didn't fare well with rope.

i often compare it to a wood chisel vs cold chisel (if you take a cold chisel and grind an edge profile so it will smoothly cut wood and then try and use it to cut mild steel it will fail)

Dustin Cook hmmm i think for rope you need a blade that takes a draw cut instead of a tap cut(like a hacking motion) a katana typically uses this kind of motion for slicing. I dont know if you did but did you hone the edge of the blade after sharpening? That helps with draw cuts.

There's two key things here. Ofcourse if ,,you" want to win. First:Choosing the RIGHT weapon and that means: The right type and the right thickness and sharpness of the blade.Let's not forget also the right length. Second. You physical shape must be GOOD.
