Bawumiah’s choice as the Presidential candidate of the NPP is strategic and a step in the right direction. It demystifies the political perception that NPP is a pro-Akan party. Politics is not about an Individual but a group of people working together as a Team with a common political vision and ideology. Had Alan been chosen as the NPP flag bearer, it would have been a straight defeat for the NPP as the party would have majorly lost votes in the Northern/ Non Akan/Muslim parts of Ghana. Alan’s stance doesn’t enure to any political benefits but personal gratification. The Me/ me (English/Twi )is becoming too unbecoming of him. The wisest decision taken by the NPP was to make Non-Akan Bawumiah their Flag-bearer.

I see everything else in Ghana except a mess: 5.8 million kids getting free education, 8 straight years of electricity, with some challenges; 8 straight years of uninterrupted fuel availability, plenty of transport services, stores and markets have abundant supplies of wares and foodstuff, the automobile industry is booming so much so that you can buy a new Land Cruiser today, the banking sector is alive and thriving; salaries today are so much higher than 8 years ago, the price of cocoa has skyrocketed to 3,000 per bag, NHI is functional again, our schools are awash in infrastructure, not to mention our roads (more needs to be done, for sure); our economy is now digitized: mobile money interoperability. Ziplline medical drone deliveries, 1D1A, 1D1F, new health infrastructure scattered across the country, electric buses for the future to reduce fares. I could go on and on but there’s really no need. Just take off your partisan veil and see the light.
