@@TheLawnMentor what source? I do not see a source. It is true that Fe availability is dictated by the soil redox potential and pH.. In soils that are aerobic/higher pH, Fe is readily oxidized, and is predominately in the form of insoluble ferric oxides. But many turfgrass species exudes natural chelating compounds (eg, phytosiderophores) that complex Fe and render the Fe available for plant uptake. Plant roots absorb iron from the soil solution most readily as (ferrous) Fe2+, but in some cases, also as (ferric) Fe3+ ions See McBride, M.B. 1994. Environmental chemistry of soils. @@TheLawnMentorI am in the Northeast : I fertilize twice a year using high WIN fertilizers: In the Spring, near Memorial Day I use Corn Gluten and in the fall near Memorial Day I use Milorganite. I always say, if it's not broke don't fix it! If the grass already dark green, leave it alone. Actually, you're supposed to do a soil test, to detect if they are any nutrient deficiencies in the soil before applying any additional chemicals to the lawn, because it may not need it. The before and after results of your lawn almost looks the same. I can't tell any difference! If there is a difference it's only marginal, not like as in night and day.

@@TheLawnMentor One of the cons of fast acting, liquid fertilizers are, they don't last near as long as the slow release, granular fertilizers that feeds the lawn for a longer period of time. That's the reason why liquid fertilizers have to applied more often than the granular.

I actually made a video about FloodJet vs AI vs Fan. The AI tips are more coarse than a fan tip but less coarse than a FloodJet. It’s kinda right in the sweet spot. This would’ve been ideal to do with a fan tip and maybe even a surfactant.
@jasonpakkala9015
@jasonpakkala9015 Жыл бұрын
AI isn't necessarily more coarse. It depends on the nozzle sizes. Floodjet nozzles are great for fertilizer and normally have a much wider angle, like 110 degrees, which is more forgiving with overlap and height. AI nozzles are better for contact fungicides, like Daconil because the droplet is actually a bubble and explodes on contact creating better coverage. I was fortunate to see the results of flood/flat fan vs AI when Syngenta came on site for quality control research at a local golf course.

Two seasons ago I bought two bags of ironite and used them both in the backyard. Did not see ONE BIT OF DIFFERENCE after a few weeks of regularly scheduled watering. Seen a lot better results with the usage of different fertilizers and or even using some plain old miracle grow blue granulated plant food that I mixed in my spray pack and tried. However I’d love to get into the sulfates and give that a try! Don’t bother with ironite, waste of time and money

@@TheLawnMentor Scotts Southern triple action weed and feed always leaves my grass an awesome dark green. I use it as my starter fertilizer in early spring. In late spring I used Scotts green max and it was more of a medium green. It also had my grass growing at an alarming rate, and had to mow too often. I would not put anything on my grass since were dab smack in the middle of a heatwave. Temperatures have been 100 or more for almost the last three weeks. Im having to mow my grass at least every 12 to 14 days, and mowing in the evening so as not to burn the grass, and watering early the next morning. It looks like the heat dome is about to move to the right and get the hell out of TX. Expecting rain next week and a more seasonal bearable summer temperatures. You got your grass science at an A+. @@TheLawnMentor Ironite is a popular fertilizer sold to green up lawns and plants in home gardens, golf courses and athletic fields. Data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency shows Ironite has - by a wide margin - the highest levels of arsenic of all fertilizer products surveyed. Ironite also contains lead. But neither ingredient is listed on the Ironite label. Both can build up in the soil. According to the Washington State Department of Health, “accidental ingestion of less than half a teaspoon of Ironite may be toxic to small children.” Arsenic is a known carcinogen and even small amounts of lead can harm a child’s ability to learn. Children can be exposed to lead and arsenic through skin contact with the soil after lawns and gardens are fertilized or by ingesting fertilizer on fertilized soil.
