There are 2 meanings to this smooth and beautiful film. 1. They still care 2. They only care when you're gone
@xxstar-bluesxx Жыл бұрын
I think it's like number 2 in this situation. They only worry about you when they realized you got in trouble or gone. Which is bad parenting. But since the father is just a single-parent, it's just complicated.
@RajeswariR-hk8es Жыл бұрын
It all depends on how you perceive people,its a fact that life is a struggle for a single parent raising two kids ,a child of her age obviously will lack the emotional maturity to understand not to demand attention at all times from her father.But somewhere deep in her heart she did know that her father does care for her.In this busy life being overburdened with responsibility humans fails to express love to others.the preoccupied mind doesn't allow you too think about minute aspects of relationships.

Dad's a single parent. His strictness is because he doesn't want to parentified Ophella, but he does need her to be more understanding that he's only one person trying to do the job of two people. And her sister isn't old enough or able enough to do things on her own yet, meaning that she needs him in ways Ophella doesn't anymore (feeding, walking, all things babies can't do on their own). Still Ophella's young and doesn't understand just yet. Finding the lost boy and his missing poster helped her gain that understanding, especially when she reunited with her father and sister and seeing how they *both* were worried about her. Seems the lost boy was in a similar situation to her: single parent household with siblings. Only instead of being the oldest child, he's one of the middle children. Mom's no doubt even more busy then Ophella's dad and middle children often feel like the oddballs because they are neither the responsible elders nor the needy youngest. And Mom must have a harder time splitting her attention between five kids: the majority of which are boys.
@TheDisneyLover585 ай бұрын
But that’s not fair in a sense you vilifying the young children. Even some parents can be neglectful. Ophelia IS still young but even single parents can’t take that for granted. While yes kids need learn that sometimes other siblings need help than other you can’t take that for granted. A little child can’t make up these feelings.

There’s several meanings that can be drawn from this (pun intended), but the part that made me cry was how Ophelia was able to recognize the lost child’s pain and, knowing that they are missed, was then able to help the lost child and then herself. Sometimes we don’t recognize the solution to our own problems until we see someone else experience something similar. Absolutely beautiful animation btw!!!

I love how the film is based around the flowers forget-me-nots and shows them repeatedly in the film. It’s also based around a garden so makes sense. I absolutely loved this. There’s also not many short films in Spanish with subtitles and as someone trying to learn Spanish at the moment it was really helpful. I love the meaning behind it and how the kid felt like a black cat who was unwanted and was like a bad omen. Beautiful animation. So much thought put into it.

Me lembrou o meu eu de alguns anos atrás.

The underwater scene is my favorite part. Such good music and sound design! That part is so beautifully animated, with the details of the other child's subtle changes in appearance. I love the composition of the part where Ophelia hears her dad's voice and is brought into the light. I keep coming back to it. I really liked this animation. The adorable characters and stunning backgrounds really give off a whimsical and child-like feeling. I felt like I was taken on an adventure to an unknown world. The ending with the baby reaching out for Ophelia and seeing the boy's family run to greet him literally brought tears to my eyes. Tl;Dr: this is a great animation and I will definitely be coming back to watch it years from now

I don't think the music for the underwater scene is appropriate. The music should be ominous to highlight the terror of Ophelia. Clare de Lune is peaceful where the scene is not.

There's a lot of comments complimenting, but I'm fascinated with the story and what occurred. There was a shape shifting creature who wanted a child to stay in its garden very badly but turned out to be a boy or rather turn into one? I couldn't help but ignore how stricken with loneliness they were, so desperate to make them stay.

I think this great film has some amazing metiphores. I like how it shows that being a "missing person" is not the only way a person can get lost. We can get lost when we feel forgotten or worthless. Then I like how it shows the pull that depression or mental illness has on a person. You start out thinking that you are in a place where you can control what is going on. It might not be normal but it seems "okay" so you allow yourself to go to a dark place inside your mind or your illness. Then, you know it isn't right. You feel off but, your mind is still telling you that you need the drug, you need to stop eating, you should just stay home because no one loves you, nothing you do is right. Again, you know the feelings are "wrong" but in a weird way they are also comforting. Sometimes you give in to that feeling of dispaire and you realize that there really are "monsters" inside your brain. You can't control your condition, your depression, your mental illness any more. Then you have to decide to fight. People who suffer like this are so strong, like....people who never suffered like this can't even start to understand the struggle it takes to try to pick yourself up, convince your self that you are worthy, that people do love you, that life is worth going on and that you can fight! I like that the lost little boy saw how the girl had the courage to fight off the bad thoughts and it gave him the courage to step out of the darkness too. This is a message of hope to everyone who struggles with their mental health.
