Forget Plasti-Dip - Heat Shrink is Better -

Why is Plasti Dip always dried out? - In today's Not-a-Shorts-Short, I use some 1/2" heat shrink to make new handle grips for a pair of pliers, because my Plasti-dip has dried out. Like it always does. If you run into the same problem, give heat shrink a try.

Yea no matter how hard you try to keep it good - once you open the can of plasti dip you better use it pretty quick. Even resealing the can with plastic (not just the lid it comes with) doesn't seem to stop it from drying out.

heat shrink works great on ratty bike handlebars too, over top of the manky foam or tape,

you can use ABS plastic on acetone to create that liquid plastic to coat tools

@sacriptex5870 I've been wondering about using that for a variety of coating applications. Do you know if doing a torch or heat gun over the dried product better seals and re crystallizes the polymer? Was wondering if that'd be worthwhile as well or if over doing and not required.

@@jafinch78 i think its unnecessary 'cause the liquid plastic will coat evenly, i do a lot on my tools even to seal eletronics 🫡

but takes a lot to dry at least 24 hrs but when it does its amazing, cheap and effetive

@@sacriptex5870 I've been wondering even doing with outdoor applications like undercoating vehicles and re-painting a gazebo with though not sure the most cost effective source other than maybe free projection screen TV's or old big CRT's? Neat the 3D printing world of ABS paste, slurry and paint applications elsewhere.
