A forgettable movie is a very broad way to describe me because I find Rio 2 a very great movie for me despite being forgettable in the animation community. I may not a fan of hotel Transylvania movies or Trolls for hip and cool reasons, but Rio 2 feels a more palatable alternative because I mostly enjoy it from a perspective of a wildlife biologist rather than an animation fan.

Agreed. While Rio 2 is just meh and disappointing for me (Rio is my second favorite animated film, only beaten by Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky), I still remember it to this day. There’s a lot of good ideas in Rio 2 that could’ve made for a great follow-up if the script had another revision or two. I still don’t understand why people hate Rio 2 so much. Sure it’s a downgrade from Rio 1 but it is no where near Foodfight or Where The Dead Goes to Die level bad. Just an all over the place roller coaster that ends up being a simultaneously confusing and middle of the road yet not terrible experience
@Anime_theatre_lover2 жыл бұрын

I find it interesting that many of the cliche' 3D animated movies we have today are kind of similar to most hundreds of anime being pumped out day in and day out. Of course, the animays can have pretty cool animation and cool looking characters too, but sometimes most of them are just one if not the same thing, (It actually gets pretty boring after a while trust me). So it's really a surprise when you actually discover a pretty decent one over the sea of stupid fan service and tropes.

Character really is important. Like, I enjoy "Wreck-it Ralph" way more than "Ralph Breaks the Internet" because first movie Ralph seems competent, goal oriented, and relatable because he wants to feel accepted. Sequel Ralph is just a total man-baby, and watching him be clingy with Vanellope, and not want to do anything without her just made me feel so uncomfortable. The only time I did like him was when he said, "Maybe I do come across as clingy and overbearing", like YEAH, YOU DO. Anna in "Frozen 2" had the same problem. The first movie had her be adventurous and optimistically determined, but in the sequel, every scene she was in had her be on the edge and skeptical about the unknown. Like, girl, you traveled an entire mountain range without looking back in the first movie just so you could apologize to Elsa, and try to convince her to come back to end the snow storm in Arendelle. Why are you being this manic?

I love the sidenote (Keyword: A little bit) because even after (luckily) only watching Encanto three times, I still HATE Abuela Alma with a passion, no matter how much redemption they try to give her. I think the only time I go from hating a character to forgiving them is John Walker aka U.S.Agent from Falcon & Winter Soldier. His character arc is: 1. Whatever your ops are on a new Cpt America 2. By Ep3, you hate him and 3. By Ep6, you can't decide but you give him credit for doing the right thing. With Abuela, even though she apologised and admitted it was her fault, all the emotional manipulation and trauma she put Mirabel through is kinda beyond forgiveness, no matter how tragic loosing her husband was.
@jazzsenford33102 жыл бұрын
Thanos said it best: "i know what its like to loose. To feel so desperatly that your right, yet to fail all the same." She felt like she was right at the time and even though she apologised, Mirabel isn't gonna just forgive that. Hell, I've seen SO MANY PEOPLE say they wanted Mirabel to be the villian due to the Manipulation and trauma she went through. Abuella went through trauma and because an 'obstacle' more then an antagonist.
@Awesomemay2 жыл бұрын
i agree with this a ton! i realized after saying that in the video that i felt like my statement kinda undermines how much trauma abuella caused and she shouldnt be forgiven but it was also nice that they showed why she was like that ect

1:49 I'm sick of people saying Planes is just Cars but worse, so let me talk about the two so you can actually tell the difference (seriously how do people not tell the difference their plots are completely different) Cars: a hotshot racer who thinks the world revolves around him dreams of winning the Piston Cup and getting a sponsorship from Dinoco and after a 3 way tie has to go too California and after a mishap caused by the "Tuner Gang" he gets stuck in a small town called Radiator Springs and accidentally destroys the road, he's later sent too community service and has to fix the road under supervision, he then falls in love with the town and with the people in it, and he's sad that he has too leave to California, on race day it turns out most of the residents from Radiator Springs actually came too the race, on that race Chick Hicks causes Strip "The King" Weathers too get into an accident and McQueen gives up the race too help "The King" finish his last race Planes: a crop Duster dreams of becoming a Plane that'll one day race in "The Wings Around the Globe Rally" and has been shown too actually try too practice, he eventually talks his mechanics (Dottie) into getting him too the tryouts and barely doesn't make it, but the next day it turns out that the person who beat him had NOS in his tank which is illegal and because of that he's in the race, and he gets the old plane Skipper too help him train, once the first race starts he ends up last because he stayed very low too the ground and landed up nearly frozen in ice, in the next race one of (British Racer) Bulldog's propellers gets damaged and he's blinded and Dusty helps him and it turns out that now he's definitely dead last now, he then talks too Franz who (in canon) is one of 6 flying cars ever built and he takes him too a place where he gets his sprayer removed and his black stripe is coloured over with a blue one, a montage shows Dusty actually progressing pretty good in the races, and then Ishani flys him too the Taj Mahal and tells him of a shortcut through the railway tracks and he believes her, he takes the shortcut and actually lands in first place, later it turns out that the main antagonist (Ripslinger) actually paid Ishani too tell him this in exchange for a better propeller, Dusty notices this and then finds out, a few races later Ripslingers guys (Ned and Zed) chased Dusty and destroyed his antenna leading him too not be able too contact anyone and eventually finds himself with the Jolly Wrenches, the military who Skipper, supposedly had many missions with, he then gets his antenna fixed and asks Skipper why he only has 1 mission listed and it turns out he never made it past a single mission, Dusty then is flown out and Skipper kept telling him too get above the storm but Dusty's fear of heights (which was mentioned earlier in the film and before anyone says "he's a plane he shouldn't have one," he's never flown over a thousand feet because he's a CROP DUSTER) kept getting in the way and he was lost in his thoughts and eventually gets in a crash, he's eventually saved and finds out he's damaged very heavily, he then confronts Skipper about his lies and then he gets out of the garage too find the other ravers giving him replacement parts (some of which were better than his previous) and gets in the race and starts last because of his crash, Skipper also overheard Ripslinger's plans too crash Dusty, later on in the race when Dusty is flying low, Ripslinger, Ned and Zed then nearly crash Dusty but Skipper comes in and saves him and they decide Dusty deals with Ned and Zed while Ripslinger is dealt with Skipper, and Ripslinger gets Skipper damaged and fly's off, Skipper tells Dusty he'll be fine and tells Dusty too go and win the race, Dusty then catches up too Ripslinger but Ripslinger speeds ahead and Dusty's only option is too get above the clouds which has intense wind speeds, he then gets over his fear of heights and goes for it and eventually wins the race
