27:43 I think the idea is that Sarah doesn't really "get" peter but Rachel does. Peter tells Sarah about his idea of doing a Avenue Q like Dracula show and she doesn't get it but rachel does. Sarah wants to mold Peter into someone she is satisfied with, Rachel wants to expand who Peter is.

This was one of those films that I didn’t have big expectations for and it’s one of the funniest movies from the last 20 years.😂 Please check out Used Cars from 1980 starring Kurt Russell and directed by Robert Zemeckis. It’s hysterical.😂
@ShaunRF3 жыл бұрын
One of my favorite comedies of all time, so funny! One of the things like I like about it is the nuanced take on both Peter and Sarah's characters. Yes Sarah shouldn't have cheated, but Peter was not without blame. His own behavior was shown to play a role in the decline of their relationship.

Now that you’ve met Aldous, time for Get Him To The Greek. Jonah Hill, Russell Brand, and P Diddy…none of whom I was a fan of until GHTTG. Hilarious! Jason Segal is also huge into puppets in real life. He’s in one of the newer Muppet Movies. Edit: Pretty sure he wrote and directed it, too.

I feel like this entire “lighthearted summer comedy” genre has been in a slump lately. This feels like it was part of the last wave of consistently good ones, with The Hangover, Horrible Bosses, and other stuff that came out around the late-00s/early-10s. Like, the 90s and early-00s had TONS of hits in this mold, but it just seems like light comedic hits are kind of rarer now.
@michaelhandy97583 жыл бұрын
Yep it's especially this Apatow/Paul Rudd/Jason Segal/Seth Rogen era that's missing both from new releases but even from reactions. I could name a good number for which there aren't many reactions: Zack and Miri Make a Porno I Love You, Man American Pie Road Trip Funny People This is the End The Night Before Office Christmas Party Bridesmaids Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story Pineapple Express Step Brothers Get Him to the Greek Neighbors Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising Long Shot

the “raunchy” movie has died
@armpit_farts73273 жыл бұрын
@@michaelhandy9758 All of those are good movies except American Pie, that movie is like straight sexual assault for 90 mins. Also, I think the reason this shit is missing is because there aren't that many people who are really good at it. People like Edgar Wright, Apatow, David Wain all have their own comedic stylings and they don't fit into this newer homogenized, style of comedy. Less good comedies come out, less people want to fund them, downward spiral etc.....

Kristin Bell (who played Sarah Marshall) is a really good serious actress. she's also really funny and has great comedic timing. if you like her, you should try to find Veronica Mars - it's a TV show that was on for i think 3 seasons, then they made a movie, then Hulu produced a 4th season, that takes place, like, ten years after the original. anyway, it's a really good show.

God, I can't even count how many times I've watched this movie... it's not particularly all that "good" in any traditionally superlative way, but it just feels good to see. It's real and human in a way few comedies or breakup movies are, I think is what it is. Like it's less the plot and more the characters and how they ache in different ways, and how they play off each other in the comedic bits. Like everyone else is saying, the "sequel"-ish Get Him to the Greek has to be next. In a fucking stacked comedic cast, somehow Diddy consistently steals the show with the funniest scenes.

The Ladies Man (2000) with Tim Meadows is a good one for you if you like this kind of comedy - so is Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (2005). Harmless, politically incorrect, hilarious comedy. But the pasties these actresses wear during some of these scenes throws me off - especially since I had to suffer through Jason Segal’s little frank and beans. Apparently he requested that scene. I guess you can’t criticize self-confidence, but damn, put the towel back on, man.

I can't really consider these kinda flicks rom-coms tho, so I guess I'll just call 'em 'comedies with romantic/dramatic elements'. I think the only 'traditional' rom-com I like is Hitch, with Will Smith/Eva Mendes. Might be a good reaction too, if you haven't seen it yet. Pretty feel good stuff, with legitimately hilarious bits.
