Blood curdling and well built up atmosphere... you’re doing really good.... The only thing concerns is as to the universe of monster in the channel ... I’m binge watching your videos and that’s the second appearance of the same critter... just an opinion

Hello there, I'd like to offer you some advice for your future projects if you intend to continue to make films, which I hope you will as horror shorts are my favorite type of videos on KZbin. I hope I won't come off as negative or condescending, I merely hope to help you improve. For one thing, the title in the video is misspelled, something I'm sure you're aware of haha, but it can't hurt to double check things like that before exporting a project. As far as the sound design and editing goes, the character's footsteps aren't consistently accompanied by the stepping sound effect, and the movie probably would be better off without that effect as it comes off as distracting more than tense. Additionally, some of the shots and angles are a tad overused, and it's clear that this was made either entirely without or mostly without a tripod, something you could benefit from having. I can see the cameraman's shadow numerous times, the editing contains random cuts in the middle of shots, the acting is not the greatest, a car is on in the driveway when he returns, there's just errors all over the place. A letterbox could help with coming off as more cinematic as well, and you should include credits somewhere. I'd guess this was something you created with friends for fun, and I hope you enjoyed the process.

14th Hour Films thanks for the advice and the time you took to write it. I wanted to create tension by revealing the killer through his footsteps. I just didn’t have the equipment to record it properly and used some sound effects and tried to match them up as much as I could. My friend warned me not to shoot at night but I did it anyways and it was tough. I was lacking a lot of equipment and I couldn’t do a lot of the shots I wanted because you couldn’t see anything. That’s why they are overused a bit. And why I have little errors all over the place luckily most people didn’t notice them except for fellow film makers like you. I will however take your advice on using a tripod. And for the misspelling I just don’t know how to spell lol.

@@mlflicks4421 No problem, friend! I only hope I didn't come as too harsh. I think the film shows a lot of promise as you clearly have an understanding of what "horror" is as a genre, and I hope you do stick with it. As far as equipment goes, it can get a tad expensive, but I would simply recommend saving up and getting better stuff as you move forward. That's what we've done! Birthdays, holidays, jobs in the summer, stuff like that is the easiest way for a young person to save up and improve their content. Rode has a pretty good on-camera mic that isn't too expensive and can help with audio, and it works with phones! There's some pretty nice DSLR cameras on the market that don't cost too much, I'd recommend looking into Sony and Canon. We shoot on a Sony Alpha a6300, it's on the more expensive side but Sony makes good cameras, and if you're looking to get pretty serious, the Shotgun Mic Pro+ from Rode is a really good mic to use. Remember you can crop and all that jazz in editing which can help with little errors here and there like the shadows. Definitely stick with it, man!
