The Damascus pattern thumbnail on screen is the best I've seen for this type of channel. I could wish other smith's would show the pattern like you do.

to make sure everything is as straight as it can be I usually let my blade cool while being braced in between two pieces of L bars using C clamps, right after the quench and until it's cold to the touch. I also use this technique of bracing my blade while tempering. Works every time, doesn't affect the quench nor the temper, saves a ton of time because it takes like 30 seconds to set up and then you just let it cool down and you don't spend hours trying to make it straight while stressed to over temper it if you have to heat it or literally shatter the blade by trying to bend it into shape. I don't know why I don't see many people do this but it really helped me get straight blades from the very first knife I've made. you can even give it some normalizing cycles while braced, it will never bend once.

This blade has an integral bolster. You can just lock it between pieces of steel. I do agree that a good idea though. One builds now I use my aluminum plate setup, that’s much better post quench because it cools very fast. Thanhs for watching.

I had a hard time with this one, a lot of great knives. The hardest part was taking out the fact that I talk to most of you guys all the time. I had to give it to House Works, his knife looked exactly like a few my chef friend owns. It was a tough call, you guys all stepped up to the plate, his was probably the most basic, but that is what a chef's knife is. Man, you guys made this a hard decision. Hope all is well, take it easy.

What kind of fluid is it you put the billet in before putting it into the forge? Great build and knife👍👍🥇

That is kerosene. It burns off in the forge and the theory is that it prevents oxygen from getting between the layers as it burns off to get better welds. 👍 Thanks for watching!

The powder is borax. It’s used as a flux to keep the steel from forming scale. You don’t want scale between the layers or it won’t forge weld together. Thanks for watching!

Hola! se puede hacer el templado con un espesor de 3mm en el filo o es mejor templar con el filo casi en su grosor final?

Beautiful. I have only two complaints: first, the ratio of twist-to-mosaic really could be improved. The twist looks great, but it hogs space and doesn't let the full potential of the mosaic out. Second would be the handle material. The dark blue seems a little too gloomy for the rest of the knife. Doesn't complement. But otherwise, this is *amazing*. Keep it up!

I agree on the twist. I was supposed to be the bottom inch only but it just didn’t work out that way. With the handle, you gotta see it in person. It totally pops! Thanks for watching!
