Excellent. I always knew there was an easier and more reliable way to make them, and I got a good idea on making myself a flatter. Many thanks.

Very nice! I’ve made many from 1” and one from 2”. I don’t flatten I use that as a design element and make “shadow” cross with a fuller. I make a domed stand with copper or aluminum concho spacers. I often heat color the base purple, and Japan Brown the cross. Many ways to dress them. Great gift! Thanks!

Thank you for the fantastic how-to. Well done. As you mentioned, there are opportunities to tailor to a particular preference; I'll build one that is tig-welded to a nice base to free-stand on a shelf. You've given me the start and inspiration. Thanks again.

It is done with a brass brush after the piece comes brown from the red heat and turned black you just scrub at it with the brush and that transfers a small amount from the bristles to the piece
