I really like how it turned out, also really enjoyed that you did it all with hand tools. Keep up the great work.

This was my favorite thus far of all your videos. I learned a few new things and appreciate you sharing. Really well done. I tend to shut off the power hammer videos, but anyone can have a striker help out. I do however second county line's post of doing some work like this solo. Yes it is a pain, but seeing how one man does certain portions of the work solo is a huge help to many of us who tend to forge alone. Again great work and I have to agree this fuller came out super sweet!

That’s one cool fuller hammer, great to see it being made right through and even used at the end - you should be real proud Dan, nothing wrong with that. Great teaching video.

That's a great tool, Dan. It's also great to see how much pleasure you get when something goes well. You enjoyed the whole process of this one, didn't you? ⚒️👍
@danielmoss20896 жыл бұрын
I enjoy making I just find it hard when it doesn't quite turn out like it should and I would like to stay a little humble. As for the result I was very happy and that doesn't happen as much as I would like lol in fact your hammer was one of them times. Great comment dude and was it really that offensive? Lol
@dadratsforge6 жыл бұрын
Offensive? Not at all, did predictive text change that from Obvious? I reckon you're too hard on what you achieve but that's normal for people that make nice things. I'm glad you enjoyed making my hammer I really enjoy using it. ⚒️👍

If the punch or drift is tool steel, like tie rod for instance, is it okay to quench after it cools to a black heat? Mindful that I'm usually in direct sunlight
@danielmoss20893 жыл бұрын
As long as one is hot and the other relatively cool most steels will work. Some better than others but should work.
@steveolsen78046 жыл бұрын
Excellent job! I didn't catch the type of steel you used. Could you post that please? Also what is the width of the finish fuller?

Looks good...now do it with no striker either! I challenge you to a solo hammer making competition with no power tools...hand tools only...aside from the grinding and cleaning at the end...no power tools for the forging of it...get some Mr. Moss!
@CountyLineForge6 жыл бұрын
Oh btw I'm kidding...I don't wish that pain on anyone...after close to 100 hammers that way, I for one will not be doing that anymore hahaha...great looking tools brother ..and you two strike well together
@danielmoss20896 жыл бұрын
OK I'm up for that! I'll make one you make one you can pick the type of hammer if you like only 2.5-3.0lbs. You set the rules. The way I see it is if you can't make it by hand you can't make it with a striker and you can't do it with a power hammer or press. Nice idea what do you say. I would say make it like but I might have some issues there but I could try.
@madeinsweden77766 жыл бұрын
A beautiful tool made.But werent you at times tempted to use your powerhammer?I think I would be : )
