That is a stunning pattern on the blade! I've watched many other makers use kerosene, but they put it in the forge and let it burn off before using flux. I have yet to try, but was curious if it makes a difference.

The flux won't stick unless the billet is hot (or if it's wet), but if it's hot in the forge and you take it out to flux it will form scale, so I fluxed right after the kerosene to try to minimize the scale, thanks for your comment.
