Hello, Delilah! And love seeing you all again! Fascinating tool-making process. I love the coordinated effort between man and machine (the power hammer, specifically). The finished product is beautiful. 😍💕

I was so happy to see the notification of a new video from this channel! Your Dad lights up pinging the hammer for Delilah and her overalls are so cute! So sorry to hear about Heidi girl, I know how much you and your family loved her... she had a good, long life with you guys.

What steel is used to make this tool?

Clara, really glad you're making more videos. Loved seeing Delilah and your Dad! It was neat seeing the combination of power hammering and hand work. I was surprised at how Ned made the power hammer operate so delicately. We have one of Ned's weeders and love it.

Great work. I've actually had one of those weeders on the to-do list for quite some time, but never seem to get around to forging one. Nice to see the process, especially the peening at the end.

Thanks, I had seen many weeders over the years but hadn't actually seen him make one until filming this!

Let’s see some more? Seeing all those tools in the background implies you might be a master. Let’s see it!

First time viewer here, Awesome video, patient and thoughtful explanations about your process, farm and garden tools were what initially inspired me to begin my journey into blacksmithing, If ya don't mind sharing, you mention tool steel, have you found you like any particular tool steel/high carbon formulation? I love the hexagonal stock btw it seems like it would provide some additional rigidity especially if you were to use it on any long handled tools

So do you sharpen it by peening it or file
@FamilyForge Жыл бұрын
Mostly peening with a little touch up filing at the end
