Dear Dave Canterbury, you'll never know how much you inspire me as a seventeen year old kid. I love all your videos and have learned so much from you. Thank you so much for the inspiration showing why God put this great land here on this earth for us to use. Thank you Dave!

It's interesting seeing how far you've progressed over the years, both in your skill at the forge and with the school itself. I've been watching you since 2012 and enjoying every minute. :)

That looks like it could serve as a self defense utensil as well provided you could get the buckle off quickly and that your pants don't fall down.

Just another thought..... it looked like the awl cut through the leather initially just fine until it came to the round non ground area. If you grind back further on the awl giving it more cutting area, I venture to say that it would cut through the leather much better. Blessings to you!

I wonder if a straight bit screw driver could be ground into the end of the striker? Or would that take away the traditional look? Maybe grind for the appropriate screws on rifle or shotgun?

Loved the video! That anvil you have is nice! How did you get that black finish on it, is it just paint? Also, where did you look to find a nice anvil of that size and shape? I'm looking to upgrading to something like that. Thanks

Great project end product. Something I think I would like to have. The multi functional use of this product is quite appealing. But can you tell me if the multi functional use of this single product is period Correct? Thanks for all you do brother. God bless!

There are very few multi-tools I would consider essential, but this is one of them. It would rank up there with a good knife, a cast iron frying pan, and my Gerber multi-tool (issued to me by the Navy, as a replacement for my original Leatherman tool, before the turn of the century, i.e...1999).

With the pin being that diameter, how likely is it to harm the wool blanket? As a blanket pin, i would think smaller would be better, but i see the need for the thicker stock as an awl.
