"He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city." - Proverbs 16:32
Big John the 1957 Dodge D500 fights me at every possible turn. Think this truck will ever hit the road again after sitting for decades?

Yes ! The messed up hair ending was great , explained the whole " fun " journey of car maintenance and repair. and modification. As I write the soccer fans in the pub down the road are singing like a football folk song chant thing I think England might have beat Italy in the Euros.

My question for automotive experts: If it's a safety feature to have the driver's side lug nuts left-hand threaded, why doesn't everyone do it? You'd think there would be lots of news stories of wheels loosening and coming off on other makes...
@uzivatel56
@uzivatel56 3 жыл бұрын
@@odahithedubious2017 You just answered your question. Somebody decided it was not worth the hassle manufacturing cars with different thread directions on the lugnuts. Nothing happened. Wheels didn't come loose. It works just fine.

Hey Dylan @10:09, that 1/2” hose fitting should have a hose running up to your engine. That’s how the brake booster gets vacuum. Will definitely help with the ease of braking. On the firewall of your truck they might still have a large check valve mounted to the firewall, one side goes to the intake manifold and one side to the fitting on the booster. I’ve changed a few of those boosters over the years on 2 ton trucks. They are like master cylinders, they don’t like to sit up for long. May have to invest in one of those as well. Good luck with the project

The problem with the brakes is that once there’s a leak and it sits a long time, moisture finds its way in and everything corrodes from that point on, hence the seized master piston and leaky wheel cylinders…Great content and presentation style, almost as if you’re narrating a tv show with a story line in the style of “The Wonder Years”, subbed…

Hello Dylan. I am fairly new to your KZbin channel and really enjoyed this video. Regarding the hydraulic braking system; From the parts that were already replaced, I would strongly advise you to go ahead and replace all of the hydraulic brake hoses. On a vehicle that has been sitting for a long period of time, The hoses usually crack open at where they have the metal crimped onto the rubber hydraulic hoses or they deteriorate internally and get to the point where you have to practically stand on the brake pedal to engage the brakes. One thing to assist in removing those large wheels would be a roll around wheel lift designed for dual wheels or maybe even a hydraulic pallet jack with a helper to help steady the wheels. I worked for many years within a state government equipment repair facility in which the mechanics were doing basically the same things you were except our trucks braking systems transitioned from electric over hydraulic to air brakes. One point to always remember regarding the IH/Navistar trucks was that you should take a photo or write down all of the pertinent information that is on the ID Plate. Always know what the day that your truck was manufactured because IH was notorious about changing production runs within a model year and sometimes more than once. Ford was also famous for changing midstream within a model year.

The interesting thing about patience is how misaligned expectations oftentimes are responsible for its absence. It took me 40 years to figure out the cause and effect relationship between patience and expectations, but it was a welcomed revelation, so now I teach my students what I’ve learned via living in the hopes that I’ll preserve their patience. Loved the video Dylan!
