Today we were lucky enough to get hands on with this 1990 LT250R Quadracer. This thing is a great example of a original survivor! Check out Duffs Powersports for new/used parts. duffspowerspor...

Love the quadracer very underrated idk why. The honda gets all the attention but the Suzuki was also a great machine. 87-92 even had power valves the honda didn’t. Idk wish i never sold mine maybe one day ill find one again.

WOW ! Surprised those carb Philipps screws got off so easily ! I always usually strip them out and have to remove them with a lock wrench ! Great video man ! I miss working and riding on these old 2 strokes ! An extra trick to get a 2 stroke started almost right away is to lend it on it's left side until you see gas pouring out of the leak hose !

with the power vale damnn lucky I got the 1991 250 quad racer

the power valve is not really a power valve...it was an extra chamber to change tuned exhaust length and personally I noticed no difference with it pinned closed...it was useless and not a true power valve that opened flow to extra ports in the cylinder. Porting, pipe, fresh bore, new rings, less rotating mass on the rear wheels, and carb are what make it go.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/amjbqaukab2jmrc at the end of this video on the sand hill my LT250R had the PV pinned closed, a Paul Turner High Rev pipe, and a New 1986 RM250 cylinder with quadracer piston. I cant remember if the carb was still a 34mm Mikuni or 38mm Keihin PWK....

Hey was wondering if you ever got this running and if your willing to sell it, my first quad was an 87 lt250r the first blue top ends with the power valve, and sold it years ago, to buy a car, and been super sad looking for it or another one like it, I’m from Yuma Az, and I’ve seen vary few here but their trash or they won’t sell them, if your opening to part with it, hit me back with a comment please, 👍🏻

Why would you get rid of the twist throttle ?
@usefulidiot213 жыл бұрын
A twist throttle makes it harder to easily control the throttle when the bars are turned all the way to the right. This isn't a problem on a dirt bike because you don't crank the bars as far to turn, you do most of the turning by leaning. I know this because I bought a 1990 Quadracer 250R with a twist throttle on it and immediately put the stock thumb throttle back on after one ride. Twist throttle on a drag quad isn't a big deal, but in the tight, twisty woods or on a track, it can make a difference.

From my experience...that carb can suck. A BR9ES plug may not work very long as the weak stator required a BEV BREV iridium tipped plug as a band-aid fix. They love to suck air under the intake where the case halves meet (permatex high tack it there). The molten metal is a bad sign.

Ditch that silencer when you get a chance...and if you can find a Paul Turner pipe, buy it. An FMF pipe and heavy rear tires were the worst mistake I made with mine (it came with them and I didnt know any better). Get it ported when the cylinder is off and bored.

It should not have taken that many kicks if the carb was setup right, compression and spark was right, and no leaks existed.
