When I was 15 my family and I lost our home and had to leave abruptly. To this day I think about that house and often visit it in my dreams. Someone purchased the house but they never seemed to move in. I drive by often, you can tell they visit just frequently enough so thst the house doesn't become decrepit. It breaks my heart thinking of all the love and memories that were created within those walls. I wish a family was actually living there making new memories. I love watching your channel Brennen! I think you're absolutely adorable. Although it's bittersweet, I think you're paying homage to these homes and buildings that are frozen in time. I share your videos with my friends, I think you're all very brave and your ambition is inspiring! Stay safe x.

It's always surprising to me, how fast the decay sets in as soon as a building is abandoned. Great Job again Brennen!
@bloxyman224 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is strange how fast the decay sets in when it is no longer lived in. I have seen and even lived in houses that has not been maintained for decades, but yet water did not start pouring through the roof, paint/wallpaper did not peel and no mold. But yet if something is abandoned and not even vandalized, it seems like even within a year or two it is all falling apart completely.

A good chuck of decay can also be attributed to the house not having any temperature control. In this case, the outside water damage has done a tremendous amount of excess mold, moss, and even plant growth inside of the house. To see a mansion of this size with a substantial amount of land within the city of Toronto is crazy to me.

10:56 That sound you hear is a timer. There is a timer in the shot. So something was on a timer, and the timer sounds like it's about to give out.... So, the "electricity" is not on it's last legs.... Heh heh! The power will flow. The electric motor inside that little mechanical timer, is getting ready to crap out.... And as the place deteriorates, it is becoming a real fire hazard..... I kinda wonder if some Toronto Insurance Agent is seeing this video, and suddenly spits out his coffee all over his computer, like, holy crap, I wrote the policy on that place!!! Gaaaaah!!! Great video. House was probably super nice, not that long ago. The damage wasn't as bad as I would have imagined. Nice job getting in there.... No mint C5 Corvette in the garage? Or did that exploration occur off camera?? Hahaha! Joking. I love your work Brennan, I hope you keep it up.

Matt Cain since the owners left suddenly and then put the property out for a steep price they probably didn’t have any means to really upkeep it since they had to suddenly leave . Definitely weren’t planning to just abandon their home like this and waited too long to sell.

@@UnchartedTravel very unusual, but in america I have seen a property put on the market but not actually be for sale... perhaps they were trying to satisfy some requirement or there was some sort of financial benefit to it. Unless they are still paying the power usage, and that is why it is still on.

Jump scare at 6:40. 😉 This is probably the ugliest 7 mio mansion I have ever seen. 😁 Looks like late 90s for me. All the rooms are oddly shaped and have all these strange angles, edges and nooks. Indoor pools that are incorporated into the house like that are a pain in the ass. Friends of my parents used to have one and they always had problems with moisture in their house so that they stopped using it after a few years. Stupid redundant and expensive shite.

The more you walked through inside, the more I felt the overall design of the house was pretty random without much consistency in theme. I felt this hurt its value when it was on the market. I work in residential construction in Colorado and go to about 3 different remodel / new build houses a day. I constantly see houses bought for over a million and then scrapped for another multimillion dollar house to be built. From the looks of it the owners never updated a thing on that house since the early 90's. Even back in 2012 it would have looked very dated. From the video you can see that every single window would have needed to be replaced even back in 2012. I am sure the roof was trash, as well as the HVAC. Black and gold master bath, 90's tile everywhere, some of the countertops are formica, extremely low ceilings in the basement. The build quality looks very mid range for 90's standards. I understand location is a large factor for inflated housing prices but It was like they were selling this one for renovated prices without doing any of the renovations. The owners had to be very much out of touch with the market there.... did they even have a realtor? Now there is no other option than to demo and sell it solely for the land, which I am sure most buyers back in 2012 would have done anyways.

Every room has odd shapes, odd walls. No wonder a new owner would have to tear it down, hence the low price offering. It looks like a nice house at first glance. Any person who can afford it will hire a designer, any designer can tell you it's not well designed, thus a demolition and rebuild is required. In interior design, you want your room to be square or rectangular shaped for furniture placement. And no angled walls blocking light from windows. You shouldnt walk into a room and have a wall or a tall cabinet blocking your line of sight. And who would want to maintain that indoor pool? I can go on and on. But this house isnt a cleanup + repair project. It is a tear it down and rebuild if the land is worthless then it explains the lack of interest.
