I love how this ARG isn't super in your face with its horror. It feels like an actual plot for a Sonic game just with a darker tone like how Majora's Mask is to Zelda.

The way the final scene plays out at the emerald shrine feels like it could have fit right into Sonic Adventure or any Sonic game in the early-mid 2000's. I really like how this story framed the whole concept of finding purpose when its hard to find that and then accepting you have to find it and not let others find it for you (ie. the spider girl). The Terios scene was also weirdly poetic and felt like it fit in with Sonic Adventure 2's inevitable story.

Is really refreshing to see a ARG series that ends in a positive note, the rejects are stoped, Sonic friends are saved, Terios makes the final sacrifice to save everyone (and promises Sonic they will meet again under other circunstances, and with a different face), Tikal gets a second chance to do what's right and Sonic saves the day as it should be. And we have the added bonus that Tikal used the power of the Master Esmerald to change the game to the SA1 that we all know and love.

Honestly when you think about it, this is kind of an allegory of the entire sonic fandom. Sonic as a series is constantly changing. These games are always doing something different. Wether it’s in an attempt to make something sonic for everyone or to pursue innovation in a market devoid of it nowadays, there’s very rarely any real consistency to these games, besides the core movement mechanics like boosting and whatnot. Most sonic fans I think can at some point say they wanted the series to go in a direction similar to their favourite sonic games and not really stray from it all that much. Sonic adventure 3, sonic mania 2, more boom games, sonic rivals, somebody at some point has probably wished that the series continued with these ideas and gameplay formulas, give them some more purpose beyond just being the next small batch of games only to be forgotten about, which I think is something you’ve got every right to be scared of. So when they don’t get that support for the games and ideas that they love, they ultimately get angry and do whatever they can to encourage sega to make those games, no matter how damaging these actions may be. But ultimately, this series’ constant changes in the eyes of some can be seen as a good thing. These new things can be a blast when they are brought to life. Folks around from the old 16 bit days were blown away with sonic adventure, which to this day is revered as a cult classic in it’s own right. When the boost was introduced through games like sonic rush and unleashed a lot of people really liked those games for one reason or another. And some of the best examples of these changes and different styles come from the boost games, like the werehog or wisps or original character do not steal the wolf (yes I just assumed your species :3), and that’s only scratching the surface. Ultimately, sonic as a series is always changing, and while you’re not obligated to like these changes, it’s also important to keep an open mind to ideas and changes that could be really enjoyable. Sooner or later, the series will come out with SOMETHING you like. And if having something for everyone isn’t what life is about, then what is? Or am I just reading too hard into a creepypasta inspired fanwork of a kids game?

I have to admit, this nearly brought me to tears at the credits. Even after having initially forgotten about this series for a month, catching up on the last two videos was a ride. I agree with a comment last video that this series felt more like a classic Machinima than the analog creepypastas of today, but this is in no way a demerit - It actually serves to play into it's own theme of nostalgia perfectly. Having Terios realized he was used, feeling himself disappear and still deciding to do the right thing, realizing he would still meet Sonic in the future, that his essence would live on was amazing. I also like how the prototype Rogue villain was a classic hypocrite with how she said her world would give everyone purpose, yet she still discarded Terios right after he served his. Glad Sonic put an end to her goals. Finishing it all with proper SA1 footage after the credits roll was just _chef's kiss_, what a perfect ending.

I love how it ends with the prototype Open Your Heart theme (as well as playing the entire fight - I've always would have liked it to play the entire fight in the original) and Tikal finally having words to say after being freed from Bat. There's certainly something touching too about Terios saving the day while acknowledging that "it isn't his time to meet him yet" as he would eventually become Shadow. Definitely the coolest non-playable project I've ever seen with all the beta styled mods for the game. As someone who grew with SADX and saw the modding potential grow with each year, it's incredible that all of what is possible now could be used for this ARG putting everything together for a story about the beta Adventure. Big props to everyone involved for all the work (including Sarah for the original ending theme), and I will stay looking forward to any other things you decide to try even if they aren't ARGs (cause I know you already know how to do cool stuff beyond those) 🎉 ...wait, I just got something on my inbox. I don't even have a VHS player- why do I even get these?? ...mhm... Robotnik's...Ring Racers? Didn't know SEGA tried to make another Sonic racer for the Saturn. Or did they?

This may have been the best ARG, analog horror, whatever you call it, that I've seen for a video game. The plot was very fascinating, you utilized the obscure parts of the history of Sonic development really well, and you kept the characterization of the cast true to themselves. Teiros accepting his erasure while requesting Sonic to be saved was fantastic as we know the Teiros concept would later be revisited as Shadow the Hedgehog, giving him the existence he wants but in another life. Beta Super Sonic fighting Perfect Chaos with a beta version of Open Your Heart was not only awesome but it brought it full circle in us finally seeing all there was to see in the world of this Sonic Adventure beta build. But seeing Sonic accept Tikal's apology and guide her in understanding the error of her ways while still being supportive of her kind of brought a tear to my eye. The amount of care and support he's shown to his friends is why we've all admired him as a character aside from the speed and the cool personality he has. Not to mention the final scene where the game becomes the final finished product that the Sega Dreamcast was blessed to have was just the cherry on top to the entire story. I'm sorry if I rambled so much, but I loved your series so much, and this build up to the finale was worth it. I'm very happy with how this all played out and I'm probably gonna ramble about this to my friends now. But seriously, you did a phenomenal job. Thank you for making this series.

Yeah, this will go down as one of the best to ever do it in ARGs with custom mod support, phenomenal editing, interesting storytelling, and references to cut content that doesn’t feel forced in. This is hugely underrated and one of the best series I’ve watched by far. With this and the Sonic 3 movie, it’s a real renaissance of Sonic fandom.

This was an well done ARG just utilizing Sonic Adventure DX and it's mods, this Story was not those generic "AI Personalization goes crazy" or "Ex-Employee gets revenge" (besides having a bit of this vibe on the last video), or even the Most Miraculous/Bizarre/Strange/Mindfu*k Lore you ever seen, It's just Sonic Adventure story retold in a Darker, yet "Noir"/Different Line, you can see every reference on each episode, Congratulations Low Poly, you're maybe the FIRST finishing an Good Quality Sonic ARG.

I think my personal favorite part of this whole story is that minus the meta aspects of it, this honestly does feel like an actual Sonic plot, especially with that Super Sonic ending, at least in my opinion. I also really love the ending where Sonic forgives Tikal without question, IMO that feels really in-character for him and I genuinely really appreciate that. This series was amazing, you should be proud of yourself!

Forgot to write this earlier, but this was awesome. Really a great way to have capped all this off! The loading screen with Super Sonic was probably the best way you could have induced hype for the scene that comes right after, had me letting out an audible "awwww yeah". That and having the beta version of Open Your Heart play over the final fight... chef's kiss. I think the beta version really fits, not because, well, it's the beta, but because it kind of carries over a greater energy of "we don't have much, but we're giving it our all here, let's stop this spider lady!" Like other people are saying, aside from the meta stuff, this genuinely feels kind of like a Sonic story that could have been written back then. Really good storytelling and character writing overall! Thank you for making this series, you did a wonderful job

The fact that all of Sonic's friends were dead really made the Perfect Chaos scene all the more terrifying, showing that the villains were not holding back. Terios' sacrifice is nice as it kinda calls back (or forward canonically I suppose) to his sacrifice in SA2. The Sonic and Tikal scene was really nice as it shows Sonic's forgiveness. The scene had me wondering tho, did Sonic and her resurrect the murdered cast? The "fin" end screen would have me think so but I don't exactly know.

I think she deserves a happy ending too :( also, I wonder how Terios knew he would become Shadow! Very interesting... EDIT: Upon further thinking, I realized that Spider Girl and Fly were actually both linked to Rouge! Spider Girl in her femininity and Fly in his species. Maybe their two "souls" (or whatever you want to call them) end up combining into Rouge, and Spider Girl and Fly live on in the canon world that way! Also a question for the creator- when you get the energy, do you think you would make an SA2 sequel video picking up where this left off? Maybe we could find out what YOU think would happen to the two after this!

There’s definitely a small possibility of me picking things up with SA2 in the distant future, but I wouldn’t necessarily count on it! I think I’d need to see certain mods to release for it first before I’d be willing to explore the idea. It’s certainly crossed my mind though!

Happy to answer any questions now that the series is over! The implication with Fly is that, as seen in his concept art, he’s buddies with Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails. So he wanted to help Sonic, but ultimately was removed from the game before he could do much else. In the finale we also see Terios get erased in a similar manner. I like leaving some of this up to interpretation, but basically it’s my way of showing that the developers are changing the game and scrapping ideas like Fly. Hope that makes sense and is a satisfying explanation

Such a unique take on Sonic Adventure it was so fun to watch the whole series seeing everything build up to this. One small question, at the end of the video why did footage from Sonic adventure for Dreamcast play?

I think that one is pretty telling when you consider the context of everything else, more so what happens on this video: Whatever the Spider girl wanted to do, it was to keep.the game in a eternal beta state or maybe an alternate version where she and other unused character concepts would live on (and she does state that being her intention)... ...So when Sonic and Tikal can finally set things straight, it can be assumed that they could fix the build being stuck in the past. The end footage still could be considered beta because it has the later removed score counter...but everything now looks like the game would be later in development and release with the new Sonic model. The Dreamcast boot screen was a retail one instead of the 3D devkit one, so that could be theorized to be a symbolism that the game should have been able to advance into something to be played on final.hardware...but wasn't possible due to the spider's interference until the end That last part is my personal interpretation after remembering the boot screen, but the final adventure footage is pretty clearly supposed to signify the game being restored into the canonical state it should be; Looking like it does now rather than what it *could* have been stuck as.

The unknown character is an unnamed spider girl. She was a character design meant for Sonic Adventure, but she never made it beyond the concept stage. Her motive within Low Poly's story is that she wanted to create a world where scrapped characters like her could have a purpose. Either that, or it was some kind of rogue programmer influencing her and giving her a presence in the game, I'm not sure.
