I must say brother this is a Very beautifully narrated story of a Great Man of God. Most churches today could not endure the old fashioned hardcore preaching that men of old like John Harper did. Thank God there is still a small handful of Preachers like this today. I’m 27 years old and I was raised under one of those Old Fashioned Preachers.

Wow what a awesome testimony! He reminded me of my husband who came to a faith in Jesus after a broken neck. He passed of cancer but he had a boldness for Jesus like pastor John Harper. Thank you! ❤

It was reported that either the captain or the designer of the Titanic said that "not even God could sink this ship" so I'm just wondering why Harper was even on it if he was a man of God.

In the day and time in which we live, people are accustom to statements traveling at the speed of light via mobile devices, blogs, and social media. This would not have been the case in John Harper's day. According to Snoops.com, such a notion that the Titanic was "unsinkable" was never part of White Star's advertisement campaign. Some attribute this statement to Captain Smith. It is not likely that third class ticket holder John Harper would have heard this prior to purchasing his passage. Snoops.com attributes this statement to an exchange between a deckhand and a passenger boarding the Titanic. The chances of Harper hearing this conversation and removing himself and his family from the doomed ship are slim to none. The reality is that a gracious God, who is not willing for anyone to perish, had a witness of the gospel of Jesus Christ on board that fateful voyage in spite of the arrogance and pride of so many on board. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

People make ungodly statements about all kinds of technology which have practical use. That includes the cars we travel in, and these phones and computers we use to get online. Which is more Antichrist, Apple or Microsoft? We don't need to condemn people for using technology for God's service. Harper was taking the ship to see about the job at Moody. Most likely, God put it in Harper's heart to take the Titanic, convicting him to take the ship, for this very reason.
