Scunthorpe United's record attendance of 23,935 was set at the Old Show Ground on 30 January 1954 for an FA Cup 4th round tie against Portsmouth

Our town scapes are changing fast. You are curating an important reference library before our once loved grounds are forgotten altogether.

It was my first ever away trip as a Bristol Rovers fan. 1957. We won 4 -3. I thought that the stadium was pretty good. It was a 36-hour trip by rail. I slept for 12 hours when I got home at 7.00 am on Sunday morning. Always had a soft spot for Scunny since then. Good luck for the season!

As a kid I used to climb over at the Parkinson avenue end but was disappointed as it was standing room only and we couldnt see anything, it was 1963 when SUFC was in div 2 with the mighty Liverpool..my cousin Kevin played for SUFC for a while in the seventies

Another of the old grounds I never visited, but I wish I had. Glanford Park's a good venue for watching football but, aside from the floodlights, from the outside it looks like some sort of industrial unit. Sorry to hear of Scunthorpe Utd's financial concerns, but I'm pleased to hear Southend Utd. seem to have been saved from liquidation. Up The Gas!

It looks like they must of been saved because March 1 was the deadline day.

Yeah - their owner paid the outstanding tax bill with hours to go.

Old town centre grounds becoming retail or housing ,and clubs moving to out of town sites became quite common here in Scotland .st johnstone in 1989 followed by Stirling Albion and Airdrie in the 90s,and later st mirren in 2009.

Glanford Park does not have the same atmosphere as the Old Showground. It has a smaller capacity

The club has new owner now in David Hilton, new management team, as of Feb 2023, may or may not be in time to avoid another drop to National North, but the club is back on a firm footing. The OSG was a magic place but would have cost too much to modernise in the 80s hence the move.

Could you please do Carlisle United, Carlisle have been at Brunton Park since 1909, technically Carlisle United have never changed ground, it would still be nice if you could do Carlisle United, or Workington Reds, I don't know when Workington Reds played their first game at Borough Park, that would be an interesting vlog also, Wimbledon took Workington's place in the football league in 1977, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England
