If anyone who monitors these videos sees this and cares to find out more… Bruno Gaido is my mother-in-laws uncle. There is a lot of family surviving and I know who you can reach out to for more information. I actually have photo portraits of his parents passed down from older relatives.

Please email me at cjfstearns62020@gmail.com, that is my personal email, and I should get back in touch with in one day, including weekends. I would love to hear more about his family. Since earth smashed studios does most of the editing (I write the scripts) and since he is a close friend of mine, I will make sure we get an update out asap, once you tell us more. We will give credit to you for helping us out. Ever since I saw Bruno Gaido on battle 360, I was fascinated by him. It would mean the world to me if you get into contact with me. Sincerely, enterprisepatton

Thank you so very much for taking time to create this video! Here's to the greatest generation! We would be living in a different world....if not for all brave military personnel, and the civilians who fought alongside them!

Bruno Gaido's heroism was shown in the 2019 movie Midway. The movie, according to military historians, was virtually almost 100% accurate. What they left out about Gaido saving his carrier in the movie was when he hid fearing he was in trouble. They took that fact out of the movie.
@enterprisespatton65493 жыл бұрын
That is correct! I personally saw that movie and I didn't notice that, it wasn’t until I read the US naval Heritage command, that we figure out that he did in fact hide

@@enterprisespatton6549 He thought he was in trouble for taking things in his own hands to shoot down that Japanese bomber instead of manning his post. He didn't realize how much of a hero he was in the end until he got promoted. And sadly, he was captured, tortured, and executed by the Japanese. He was and will always be an unsung hero of World War 2. I only wish more people were as brave as he was.

Good question: he suffered a similar fate as Guido. Since he was on the same aircraft, it is 98% likely that he was killed in the minutes after Guido, in the same manner. Hope that answers your question. Sincerely, Enterprisepatton, executive producer of "Forgotten Heroes"

We can sure look into it. It would be a new area for us, as I will admit, we tend to focus on mainly American Heroes, However that will soon change. I will discuss it with fellow Forgotten Heroes Co-producer, EBtheNerd and get his thoughts on it. ~~~Enterprisepatton, Founder and Co-Creator of Forgotten Heroes.

Correction: zero pilots who fought in the battle of midway didn’t fight at the battle of the coral sea. This was due to Japanese protocol that keep aircrews together with there carriers so they fight as one unit.

Correct. The Kido Butai was 15 years in the making. Japanese doctrine was responsible for the failure in having squadrons Be adaptable to interchanging on different ships. Therefore, when the fleet was so broken up after Midway, they no longer had the ability to put together formidable fleet actions in coordinated organizations.

Can an Admiral promote someone like that? They can promotr someone two ranks??
@forgottenheroes49535 ай бұрын
It’s not unheard of, but I’ve heard of it happening to higher ups. Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz skipped a rank when he was promoted to Admiral, skipping over Vice Admiral. William Halsey was a vice admiral at the time, so it is possible. Also to note: February 1st, the Enterprise and her task force had just launched a raid on the Marshall Islands, and was leaving the area (also known as retiring), having recovered her aircraft, so Bruno’s actions appeared to happen during that time. ~~~Enterprisepatton (founder and Co-creator of Forgotten Heroes)

McCluskey's choice to speed to the carrier at the cost of burning more fuel was a CALCULATION, not a "problem." 🤔
@forgottenheroes49532 жыл бұрын
We understand from both sides. Looking back, I’d agree that’s more true then not. Please note: my Producer has more say in the wording. Please also understand we tried our best. This was our first episode and it was months in the making. We tried to get everything right, but nothing is 100% perfect. Third is that the Producer, EBthenerd, has a lot more colorful language, but at the same time, isn’t as interested in history as me. With that being said, he didn’t understand Wade McCluskey decision. And finally, it was difficult, due to we mostly did our research on Gaido, not McCluskey, he is only mentioned, because his actions played a part in the Gaido and O’Flaherty ultimately death. I am not denying that McCluskeys actions help turn the tide of the battle of Midway and the US’s favor, we just were more focused in Gaido. If you would like, I could see about doing one on McCluskey. However, EB has decided to possibly retire as producer sometime after 2025. We also have plans for future videos, so those might take priority over a McCluskey video, which I prefer to in 2027. Overall, I appreciate your input and all I can say is “we’ll try harder next time” Sincerely, Enterprisepatton (co-founder of forgotten heroes)

He saved his ship from a suicidal Japanese pilot, the official Kamikaze Program did not start until much later in the war when the Japanese became desperate. Some American pilots of seriously damaged airplanes did the same thing as they were crashing. Sorry, but details such as this are important.

It was an unfortunate error, and there were others as well. This was our first project and we were bound to make mistakes. However, your correction has been noted Personally, I understand the difference, however my friend who produces the episode and narrates it got the final word and I was also beyond grateful that he agreed to do so, as not for him. This show is possible because of him. Thank you for your feedback~~~ Enterprisepatton, main creator and head script writer
