For more than two centuries, an enigmatic indigenous American state existed in the Caribbean coast of Central America. A country with an elite of African descent and strong ties to the English-speaking world. A country that shaped the Caribbean in many, often ignored, ways.
And today we'll explore its history, so join me today to discover the forgotten odyssey of the Miskito Kingdom.

So, does the name "Miskito/Mosquito" have an etymological connection with the name of the insects called "Mosquitoes"?

@@kimannpapa Hi! I live in Wales, UK but I would love to help in some way. I’m an artist and recently finished my masters researching Miskito creative practices. A lot of my work is inspired by that now... I wonder if the organisation would be up for using an illustrator to promote their messages? I’m heart broken by what’s going on over there right now.

Hey Charles I hope you see this message. I'm sure we are cousins of some degree! I was born in the USA but my dad, Ike Downs, was born on Little Corn. His parents were Brunella and Alejandro Downs. Some of his brothers: Guy Downs, Anthony Downs, Dalton Downs. I only have visited the Islands twice but I hope to make it back soon. I'm also very interested in learning more about the history of Miskito and the East coast.

Hello Marco, thanks for your massaged I guessed we are relative because my family surname are Downs too. But any way the miskitu history is really interesting and amazing, even though that they have being struggling to conserve they culture, history and language. In Nicaragua they are still racism against the indigenous population and Afrocaribbean, but hopefully in a near future the municipal authorities will consider teaching the history of our ancestors in the schools of the Caribbean of Nicaragua 🇳🇮☀️🏝️. I would love to see an in-depth video about the Corn Islands if you have the interest. One interesting fact: the Islands were leased to the United States government through the Bryan-Chamorro treaty of 1914, which was intended to last 99 years but was terminated in 1971. So the Afro in the population were admixture? Contrary to popular belief some people are running around talking about the Miskito people are an African Indigenous group. All the research I found (books) all pointed to admixture from slaves who were under British rule and those that escaped slavery under the Spanish.
@AztlanHistorian
@AztlanHistorian 2 жыл бұрын
Indeed they were. Unfortunately, the Miskito and the Garifuna have had their history hijacked and distorted beyond recognition by revisionists known as "Afrocentrics", who go around claiming that all civilizations were created by Black Africans, much Arthur de Gobineau did in the 19th century when he claimed that all civilizations were created by Europeans. Now, to be fair, there are people who call themselves "Afrocentric" who simply want to promote the recognition and knowledge of African cultures and the achievements of the African diaspora; something I completely support. But unfortunately, that very same name designates a rather nefarious group of racist pseudoscholars who often go around making outlandish claims like saying the Tenocelome (Olmec) were black or that medieval English royalty was black, effectively trying to steal other people's history. Hope my answer helps you. Greetings

@@AztlanHistorian it not revisionist. earth is a black planet. BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT COME FROM OTHER RACE! dna science earth history, earth culture = do not support your theory. ✔𝕆𝕌𝕋 𝕆𝔽 𝔸𝕗𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕒 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕠𝕣𝕪: logically blacks will be in CENTRAL AMERICA 1st 🙄 ✔Africa is 6 timezone big & can host 7 billion people... so the OOA theory is nonsense nobody need thst much space for themselves. the reason why Earth was sparely populated is because billions died & millions left the planet. you cannot have sex for 200,000 years which is what they are sayin humanity age is and be 20 deep. 🙄 whites are not native europeans = they are from central Asia got dumped in present day Europe ... then those 🤴🏾 🤴🏿 👸🏽 👸🏾ruling class blacks { Wildmen & the Moors tapestry} tried* to dump them in THE AMERICAS, this is why the Mayflower had tons of Europeans blacks. WEST INDIA was a kept secret. the black Europeans/Moors who are sitting in El Salvador 🇸🇻 right now can confirm this. HOW YOU GONNA COME AFTER BLACK PEOPLE and tell us Earth's History? 🌍 🌎 🌏 90% of those in Africa are not from the continent. chinese people are wearing Nigerian faces because that is where Nigerians are from!! 🤷 you look at Africa and think = 1 race? but Miskito people are mixed? you got a Miskito Adam & Eve you want to show me? Polynesia + Micronesia is not multi race =one people! Japanese & Siberian natives ..that is not an admixture when the get together! wolof & tamil look nothing alike = same tribe (different land) __________________ there is WEST INDIA & EAST INDIA ___________________ RACE IS NOT A BLACK PEOPLE'S CONCEPT = because we know better and dont need to departmentalize people in order to understand Earth. we dont need to give them crayola colors to understand what we are looking at. WE DID NOT COME UP WITH EVOLUTION THEORY 😆🙄 ( because devolution is what happens when you leave the archetype)... that is why they cant find a missing link nor humans rank by species.. ie birds and fish ** North America history and artifacts are older than Africa. because Africa is only an 'ark' you wont find ancient bones here the same way you wont find the missing land that sat over the gulf of mexico! Miskito & related natives ancestors flex on💪🏾💪🏾 someone who had allies outside this planet. people who came back had to start over.. this place was a nuclear fallout for eons.😏 if you need to say asteroid hit the planet.. go ahead (feel better). nobody in the UN can build a pyramid = but ok! we live in advance times now. rock tools were use to build pyramids... and nobody had boats.. we walk to Australia (feel better)
