Shopping Malls are large indoor shopping centers anchored by Department Stores. It’s also where shoppers get the latest fashion trend and accessories for many occasions.
Since Online shopping emerged, many in-line mall stores (as well as anchors stores) have begun to suffer due to stiff competition, which caused many of them to shutter or be acquired by other competing companies.
The numerous closures of brick-and-mortar stores birth the name “Retail Apocalypse” in 2010 and caused many "Dead Malls to appear within the Past Decade."

My local mall recently added a homage to stores that used to be in their mall to the old tee-shirt store that was there until last year 1:30 My mall didn’t have a Merry Go Round but they had a Silverman’s, which bought Merry Go Round 3:15 They had Gantos on their tribute list TWICE. I found that pretty funny 6:18 The emoloyee in my mall’s Wicks n Sticks photo looked so happy to be there! 12:15 My mall had both The Limited and Limited Too. Fun fact: Even though I’m only 15, I bought a faerie acara Neopets plushie on eBay. The funny thing is, I got it as a reward for being brave at a dentist appointment but I got it the very same day I got trapped in an elevator at school, she became my emotional support plushie for 3 months

You’ve done it again Underground Retail, I liked how you put Gwennet Place Mall in the video, I watched some of your older videos and you seemed to have put a-lot of malls from Atlanta Georgia in them, because that’s the state I live in. Also I’ve never really heard of a lot of these stores the only two I can clearly remember is Wet Seal, and Teavana, and there others stores I remember too like Payless Shoe Source, Gymboree/Crazy 8, Brookstone, and probably more too. Thanks for making great memories to my childhood. Also I’m pretty sure The Toy Store won your pole in the commentary section can’t wait for that. 😊👍🏿

Thank You so much! I live in Atlanta myself, so I will always feature footage from Atlanta area Malls in the videos when I can. Those other stores you mentioned could be possible for a Part 2. if this video reaches over 5k views. You are correct Toy Stores are definitely in the lead.

Oh cool you live in Atlanta too, the malls I like going to in Atlanta are Northlake Mall (childhood mall), Perimeter Mall, and Sugarloaf Mills, those two are our go to malls with my family. For footage of malls if a possible part 2, you should do Northpoint Mall Alpharetta GA, and for the future Mills Cooperation vid, you should do Sugarloaf Mills footage plz, because I haven’t been there since September and just wanted to see how that mall is doing in terms of possibly losing its 2000s color, Why Simon Property Group WHY!!!!!!!

Steve and Barry's clothing, mostly under $5-10 items, I had a closet full. If I didn't buy it my then ex bought it for me. I turn 60 next September, they say t-shirts with sayings on them is for a younger generation, I disagree, I have a hard time finding shirts that would suit a biker or person who wears leather.. and I'm not talking mall purse and coats stores, I'm talking real bikers jackets like Schott NYC, my first jacket is hanging on the way out my bedroom door, bought for about $200 then, the replacement cost has tripled.

I feel your pain. I kept having to rewind because I was asking myself what was I hearing? The entire thing was 1 example after the last of that's not a word, term, phrase, etc. to what kind of structure & syntax is this because this isn't how you structure a sentence, much less speak. If you listen just a little bit, you can pick up he has an "ebonic" or "urban accent", which probably explains everything. It's really surprising to hear in this video because he is so "articulate" in his other videos, almost as good as Obama.

Wow Discovery Store, Warner Brothers store, Sharper Image, Wet Seal, Limited Too, definitely seen any of those stores in years, it’s ashame I liked the Discovery Store and Warner Brothers a lot, all the other ones you mentioned never heard of or were before I was born in 1995, now Merry Go Round was my mom’s favorite growing up that was long gone, I don’t recall Gadzooks but I remember hearing and seeing that name when I was really little, that’s definitely stupid Forever 21 bought them out, I would have definitely shopped there before they did away with men’s clothing of course, and none of the malls in Georgia had Ruell stores owned by Abercrombie and Fitch, plus they definitely shoot themselves in the foot when they made fun of not just fat people but anybody with special needs in general, I am sure you could find a clip or article where the ceo that crap still somewhere on the internet, but yes malls are definitely dying, Arbor Place and Town Center at Cobb are definitely nothing like they used to be, Pier Park isn’t as nice as it used to be either, and it’s non enclosed shopping mall even, Destin Commons is hit or miss now, and Panama City Mall has been destroyed by Hurricane Michael of course, so with all of that being said it’s crazy to think how many long forgotten stores are out there! 🤔
@undergroundretail

yes!!!!!! Mall stores, the good old days of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90, and even early 2000s. Sadly it’s not as popular as it once was, due to online shopping, how sickening. Don’t they relies that due to this that people are losing there jobs, here’s my point I want online shopping to still exist but I want there to be a balance of going out and online shop too. I don’t think malls will completely die from our world I think they will still exist with people still going on the weekends when it’s busy, but it will still decrease as the years start to come. Hopefully something bazar will happen and we start to see these stores that were once forgotten. Can’t wait till December 8th, see u then. 😊👍🏿

Personally, I live where having to return something UPS because of dissatisfaction of a purchase is an hours drive away, just as the mall is.. sure, I'll go pick things out at the mall or major standalone retailers, then purchase it online.. but every gift one family member buys me is unreturnable as it doesn't fit or look well on me, the roommate only wears button up western shirts, so we take these gifts to thrift store whose proceeds benefit no kill pet shelters.
