I would like to put my characters into the forgotten realms but I really don't want to run into anybody else's characters.. or step on anybody else's work or campaign for a d&d.. my characters came to gather because a dragon destroyed the town they were in.. now I have an oddball batch of friends that stayed together to kill a dragon it is a campfire story..someone asked me if I had it on a piece of paper and I do.. I would really like to put my characters in The forgotten realms..

I don' think you need to worry about coming across other characters, you can always set your version of the forgotten realms aside from the one that you want to avoid, you're the DM, you control everything. : )
