Жыл бұрын

After a great senior season at Oak Hill Academy and being the top scorer in the McDonald's All American Game, Stephen Jackson was set to become an Arizona Wildcat and take the next step towards his NBA dream. Unfortunately, academic ineligibility would completely alter his path to the NBA as he could no longer attend the University of Arizona. Luckily. Viriginia Bibby, the mother of Jackson's close friend Mike Bibby got him to go to Phoenix Suns tryouts prior to the 1997 NBA draft where he "served up" Cedric Ceballos. And even though this didn't end how he wanted to, it provided him with what he needed to keep working towards his basketball career in various other leagues including the CBA and NBL. He finally got his shot with the New Jersey Nets in 2001 and never looked back. Jackson would go on to play a 14 year NBA career that saw him win the NBA Finals in San Antonio with Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Tony Parker and Manu GInobili. He turned this into time with the Atlanta Hawks, then a stint with the Pacers where he would be involved in the infamous Malice at the Palace along with teammates Ron Artest and Jermaine O'neal. Jackson would later find himself as a key contributor for Don Nelson and the We Believe Warriors alongside Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, Monta Ellis and Al HArrington. In another change of scenery, Jackson ended up on the Charlotte Bobcats where he would team with Gerald Wallace to lead the franchise to their first playoff appearance. Jackson would round out his career with the Bucks, Spurs and Clippers before hanging em up in 2015. And even though Jackson wasn't the most efficient and could be turnover prone, he was one of the best scorers and offensive players in general when he was on and his above average defense, made him one of the most talented and unlikely journeymen in the NBA.
This is Forgotten Player Profiles, featuring Stephen Jackson.

Would it be a consensus that Stephen Jack is most beloved by the Warrior fans? The “we believe” still hold a special place in all our hearts.

As weird as it sounds Captain Jack was a more natural scorer. Jimmy has the ability to either break your will, or make you elevate your intensity.

Your channel highlights how frustrating the 2000’s was for fans and must’ve been for David Stern. The players weren’t as disciplined as they are these days or were in the 90’s

Didn't know he struggled so much trying to make it to the NBA. Definitely a good player. Just too bad that '05 Pacers Team couldn't make it to the finals thay year but they would've been matched up against the Spurs.

Still kinda lame to me that Artest went after the lame with glasses instead of going at Ben Wallace. I understand Ben didn't throw a drink at him but he did push him and was walking up on him

Captain Jack was awesome. Wish he would have mellowed in 2011-13 and stayed with the Spurs. He was mad he was Kawhis backup more than anything it seemed.

@3:50 I was a HUGE Nets 🥅 fan in 02-03 to 04-05ish i disliked the no K-Mart Vinsanity Nets. But i never knew or never really functionably put it together or seen it in a video game or remember from NBA Live 03 and i had a Franchise Mode on that one where JKidd was MVP of the NBA 10 years running cuz i felt it that way even as a Chicagoan and 90's devout Bulls guy. When Elton Brand and Ron Artest and Curry and Chandler were Bulls i needed a contender and i began playing basketball 🏀 and i felt like JKidd as a Mulatto looking child 🚸 myself Creole Boricua tu sabes. But damn that 03-04 or 04-05 Nets 🥅 with a K-Mart, Stephen Jack, RJ, Kittles, Kidd groove.. Luscious Harris Rodney Rogers or so with Mutombo, Mourning and Collins etc. Stephen Jack and K-Mart is a nice enforcer, D, hustle, energy, toughness, combo.
