You want to get the pallet in the back of the van but it weighs a ton and will be difficult to move with the pump truck. Should you let the forklift driver drive on your tail lift?#Courier Exchange #CX #Haulage Exchange #HX

ah ...... something that id better point out Forktruck drops 500 killo on the back on a pallet whilst driving onto the tail lift . The suspension on the van drops with the weight of the pallet . The tail lift is chain driven , the tail lift is all the way down so you have now got slack in this chain ..... and chains can jump a tooth locking the lot up leaving you wondering how the hell you are going to sort this . Im not saying it will happen but it does happen. I know someone who had it happen twice !. So always do as pete says and thats get it onto a raised tail lift and pump truck it in ... dont be scared to ask to use there own if you dont have one .

Why wouldnt u just leave the tail lift folded up lower it to the bottom and the flt drive the puts the pallet on unercuts the pallet and pushes it a bit further rather than risking damage to the tail lift. Im an flt driver and do this regularly

Is it possible to get a tail lift what folds up when it’s down position then the forklift would never need to drive on it

Tuck away ? yes but on vans ive not seen one at 1/2 a ton and only 250kgs . They work on hydraulics so a pump and a single ram . This is heavy compared to a large starter motor and a chain . That presents a a real issue as thats max and against the hinge . The weight drops off massively toward the tip . Main issue is someone will always tell you the drum or the pallet they are dropping on is less .... guess how you find out !

Why don't you lower the tail lift, then fold it up against the back of the lorry (over the number plate) and then the fork lift can drive straight up to the folded tail lift without having to drive on it?

Hi Pete, Darren from CW Logistics. Been doing same day for 4 years now and I'm not ashamed to say I watch your videos! I don't always agree with your saying but it's always good to get another couriers perspective. I was wondering if it was worth doing a video in types of straps and securing loads. I was loading up today and another driver was strapping his 350kg pallet with a Bunge. Apparently it was he's always done so must be right 😂. Anyway keep up the good work

Have you ever had your pallet truck running around of the back of your van like a mad charging Bull when driving

Hey Pete it’s Tora, so I had a driver from DPD who refused to deliver my books from the Asian book store this week, because he didn’t want to get “COVID” and marked it therefore as undeliverable. It had to be re delivered by an Asian driver who clearly was logical and not a racist. Just thought you would want to hear that :) hope all is well 😊
