Format copies of one content control different ways in one document

For some reason, when I try to edit any of the copied text boxes, the text change won't update in the other boxes besides the one I'm editing. Any clues on why this might be?

I need help please! Using Word 365. I've created a custom XML Mapping file as per the video, but when I try to select the file, in the XML Mapping area, it says "This XML file could not be used to create a new part in the document because it's not a valid XML"
