Look at the map closely, India dragged with itself a large part of Baluchistan and Afghanistan. The most interesting part if any one realised is that North East, Myanmar and a large part of Bangladesh were intact, the West Bengal region came along with the rest of the the peninsula. This is probably why lions were found in western fringes of Bengal near Jharkhand and tigers south and east in the Bangladesh and sunderbans region. I did not know that.
