The popular 1990's sub-team Sky Patrol toys featured real-working parachutes for the figures and silver chrome vehicles. There were six figures and 4 vehicles (all sold separately). This review focuses on Sky Dive (the leader), Static Line (the demolitions expert) and the Sky Hawk (not to be confused with the 1984 vehicle this is a repaint of).

I never collected the sky patrol line as a child, I was out of gi joe by that time in my life, but when I started re-collecting my gi joe toys these were some of the first ones I picked up. I bought the sky hawk unused in a box for only 25.00 and the sky raven unused in a box for only 299.00, but that's when you could get some good deals on ebay. I love these toys so much because these were made when Hasbro gave a $hit about quality. That sky hawk still looks amazing three decades later. The only Sky Patrol, that I have is Altitude. I played with the parachute so much, that the silver color started to ware off. Nice job Kevin!

I used to use Static Lines gun holder unit as a hoverboard. His feet fit securely on the hand pegs.

As a kid we grew up watching Gi joe, and later went on to become a US paratrooper myself, I always thought Gi joe didn't take advantage of the elite soldiers of the airborne corps. Thanks to you, I have discovered the SKY PATROL... hell yeh!!! Airborne All The Way!!!

The gun assembly for static line is the combination of the gun and the harness. Hand grips facing up. Gun on top of harness. He uses the gun assembly to fire on the enemy as he descends.

Great series! In your opinion, what sub team re-used older vehicles better: Sky Patrol, Tiger Force, Python Patrol, or Night Force?

Just thought I'd add: Skydive's rifle is specifically an AR-10, the 7.62mm precursor to the 5.56mm AR-15. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-10

Skydive looks like J. Jonah Jameson. I had Altitude, Airwave and Dropzone from this batch. The 1990 paratrooper action figure Freefall was also showcased as hanging out with Sky Patrol in the cartoon.

Solid review of some toys that never quite worked for me. The Skyhawk always annoyed me because of its fundamental design (no wings, the tail would get blasted when the jets rotated). I think Sky Patrol would have worked far better for me if they had taken the opportunity to release a small transport plane or maybe an Osprey-like tilt-rotor. The concept of a team elite paratroopers without an aircraft to jump out of never made sense to me. The working parachutes were very cool though.
