Part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWa8q3qdlrSNpLs
--------
Former Army Ranger and skilled sniper Nicholas Irving discussed how he maintains peak physical fitness after leaving the military and how he perceived his identity as a veteran. Irving, who stays in excellent shape, revealed he comes from a background of physical activity, which started at a young age, and currently, he trains in boxing four times a week. He emphasized the importance of regular exercise and a good diet, equating health to wealth. Further, Irving also revealed how he perceived Veterans Day. While initially, he acknowledged the day, he confessed that his viewpoint changed as he matured. He now sees himself in a different light and believes that his military service does not define him completely, urging the need for veterans to carve out new identities and paths after their service.

Because for alot of brothers, especially the ones from the ghetto who grew up in poverty. The service was one of the only way out for those who wanted different but may have been a below average student and or got in trouble running the streets growing up… or overall just had no guidance in their life to direct them anywhere other than rapping/sports… being a thug… I started losing friends to gun violence as early as 14 and they just kept dropping or going to prison and that was the trajectory my life was heading as well… alot of us join solely to change our situation and see/be more … versus being patriotic wanting to serve our country… I know we are second class citizens I know how still till this day we’re hated by most…. However the white mans military changed my life for the better, gave me discipline, a sense of direction and responsibilities as a young man. As well as a lot of other brothers I’ve met over those years, practically saved a lot of our lives and used it as a stepping stone… so that’s just a thought. Though there are a few brothers out here who joined solely by tradition.. meaning the have generations of familywho served.

That’s a stereotype that I wish people wouldn’t perpetuate, cause then the rest of us get painted with a broad brush and as a combat veteran/Marine, I often avoid telling people in person that I was in the Corps. Because everything you said is what people think of me. It can make it hard to make friends and network. Cause not everyone is a mess from combat. People get over or learn to deal with it. Some never do, put unless you’re trying to help someone specifically, just let off saying things like that. This is especially true the more white collar and up the ladder you are.

I’m a Army vet from the mid 1980s, honorably discharged in 1986, and returned to my hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. Back home, I never once heard someone thank me for my enlistment. I’m now living in Spokane, Washington. Here, I bought a new hat at the local VA, which “Army Veteran” is lettered on it, complete with the official U.S. Army logo. In Spokane, the local people constantly thank me. I don’t have a problem with this, but yes, I do feel awkward. I didn’t serve in combat, and South Korea was the only overseas duty.

Anyway, Veterans Day this year, I thanked my brothers in arms for their sacrifices. Other than that, don't act like you give a fuck one day out of the year. Keep it 💯. Thank you for the 365 supporters and please help veterans transitioning out of the military because it takes years to transition. We have always but we're failing our vets more than ever now so open your eyes. Vets need help immediately, shouldn't have to go through hell and wait years to get the right help.

People don't get it. People think the military is what they see in the movies and call of duty. What people don't understand is that logistics is a huge part of any military success. I was doing convoy ops in Iraq trying not to get blown up by an IED (back in 06). We had to transport radar parts to different FOBs in Iraq. But if you don't have fuel. You don't move. You can have all the tanks, planes , and helicopters in the world. But if you don't have any fuel... Them mofos staying right there. Look at Russia. They're supposed to have this great big military and come to find out their logistics operations sucks. Their tanks were being abandoned because they didn't have any fuel (at the start of their lil war). Their supply chains were broken. That goes for the cooks too. 92Golfs are super vital in the field. In a lot of ways I think another war would benefit this country in the long run. Why? Because most millennials and Gen Z have had it too easy in life. That's why they're so soft. But that's another topic for another day.

@@sircharles820 Yeah man, everything you said is the truth. Remember what they taught everyone in school? Divide and conquer!? It's sad when the people in this country don't even see what is happening, due to people being divided by race, political views and this transgender movement.

I celebrate Veterans Day and wish it was more celebrated. It's observed for federal employees, but I actually had to work on Veterans Day for an organization that thanks me for my service each year but doesn't observe the day like many other organizations. - Former Marine.

Ok, i thought i was the only one who didn't really do holidays and birthdays like that. Veterans Day, to me, is just an excuse to take a day off from work. But as far as waiting in line for a free meal and posting military pics on social media I'm way past that. For me veterans Day is just a day to sleep in. If i was still active duty it would be a four day weekend. And if someone tells me "thank you for your service" my reply is simple *"don't thank me. Thank my recruiter"* 😆
