I really love this video. You clearly demonstrate that high level tennis is accomplished through a combination of clean technique, high-percentage shots, and consistent depth. You didn't need to blow him off the court to win with relative ease.

To me it’s really interesting how it seems impossible for him to get you out of balance. You seem to anticipate his shots so well and so you’re always ready to take the ball early to put constant pressure on him with controlled, deep shots.

Never disapointing with the content! Personaly, it gives me material to think about when I'm playing, recognize the errors I make on court and realize that even though you and me have a very diferent level, when it comes to unforced errors, the reasons are pretty similar. Thanks again!

Your filmed breakdown commentary of the points is really the best way to learn to play real points. I loved watching it. I was never bored watching it. Really understanding the strategic mistakes as well as the correct plays in the point…why the point was won or lost is the best way to learn!!

Thanks a lot Karue, that was very useful. The young guy reminds me of myself, as he doesn't do much wrong, just over hits at times and makes small errors. Whenever he had you in trouble, you seemed to hit a better shot, which is the sign of a world class tennis player.
@kellygraves81463 жыл бұрын
Really really good video. Please keep it up. Your opponent is a really good player. I can't help but notice how relaxed you are, you never seem to get pushed off your base. You stand tall and it's as if you're towering over the opponent.

I would characterize my own level at (frustratingly) slowly improving from 3.5 to 4.0 and at times feeling higher levels of play. Never after 10+ off and on (played from age 12-18, 45-…now 49) and lack of big serve, overheads hold me back. Invested lots of time, effort to improve these but I’m probably more uptight than most so it’s been a journey. I appreciate this video as I’m starting to realize (late to the ball fashion 😂) that I should focus on what I got more. Beautiful thing about this game is you learn about yourself and you accept it. Great vid, thank you!

Great format and information.. it's nice to have you commentating during the points, even when it seems obvious hearing it from you it sinks in more as when I'm on the court I realize in my head 'man why did I try to go there with my shot' when there was a more obvious and probably 'safer' play to open up the court or dictate from a better court position. Some times I just get away with shots then think that is how I should be playing which can be prioritizing a worse shot over a better one.

I remember seeing you play some on tour with Martin and at UCLA, and against some other guys on tour that I know, but I didn't realize you had stopped playing ATP tournaments until now! Great video, and good luck coaching and bringing that insight to UCLA this year!
@jamesp91153 жыл бұрын
I like this video and your simple approach. You ALWAYS talk about deepness and you can tell how it affects this match. Even wehen the junior hits high slower loopy deep balls which he didn't very much, its still a neutral ball which keeps him neutral and still in a good position. But, when he hit harder and shorter you pick a corner to hit the ball to and the point is over within the next shot in your favor.
@KaruesellHQ3 жыл бұрын
YES! I always talk about depth. You got it. Hitting hard and short takes you nowhere

Taking the heat off those forehand approach shots is always easy in theory than in practice, commonly seen among many 9s and sub 9s, though I can understand wanting to finish points quickly on a 15 ;), 16:26 - return to backhand off second serve = so much more difficult than you make it look

Hey Karue. A problem I have been having lately is that I am making too many changes to my serve technique. My technique is never the same as the week before. Most of the time these changes are unintentional. Sometimes this happens to my groundstrokes too. Can you make a video about how to find the technique that works for you as well as the fundamentals to base your technique on?
