@Subjagator6 жыл бұрын
The UK has 15 nuclear reactors, and zero uranium mines. Nuclear material is not something you can just buy and sell and trade and stockpile however you please, they are extremely regulated and you need to have trade deals in place to even consider buying them and you need accredited governing bodies in place before you can even start trade negotiations. The UK has no governing body for this, it uses the EU one, and without a regognised governing body to ensure safety of nuclear material no country will even consider selling nuclear material to the UK. Maybe the UK will manage to make a deal, in which case life goes on as normal, but if not, good luck fueling your nuclear reactors. That is the problem with Brexit, every trade deal negotiated just puts you back to the status quo and each deal you don't manage to negotiate sets you back massively. This is serious and not something to just flippantly ignore which is the impression I am get constantly from some die-hard Brexit supporters. Ignore everything and it won't just magically work itself out. www.powerengineeringint.com/articles/2017/10/uk-nuclear-industry-concerned-about-brexit-impact.html www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-10-15/brexit-takes-bureaucracy-to-the-atomic-level-for-u-k-industry www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/may/16/uk-missing-deadlines-for-post-brexit-nuclear-safeguards-leak-shows publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201719/cmselect/cmbeis/378/378.pdf

What deal? 90% of UK trade is currently with the EU or via EU trade deals with 60 countries around the world. Post-No deal BRexit, there are NO deals. WTO tariffs with what are now all '3rd countries' means they apply maximum tariffs to UK exports - up to 45% on some products. 324000 SMEs that currently export ONLY to the EU with paperwork amounting to one A4 page will now have to go through the extended paperwork and costs (£20bn per year UK overall) to continue exporting. 7800 extra customs officers required at the port of Dover alone. Thousands of HMRC bureaucrats; replacement regulatory bodies now shared with the EU will be required; 19000 civil servants simply to deal with BRexit.... The extra costs go on and on. Trade will diminish significantly, jobs will be lost, 250000 Brits will lose their livelihoods in the EU because of no FoM, many of whom will return to the UK to receive benefits. However we buy more from them than we sell, and we can use tariffs we collect to subsidise exporters in a variety of ways. However given the trade imbalance it's in the EU's interest to not have tariffs. And in fact they've already agreed a free trade agreement with Canada. One that didn't require Canada to sign up to the four single market freedoms - freedom of movement of people, goods, capital and services.

Britain needs a Brexiteer
@klausvoor6 жыл бұрын
The simple truth is that David Davis was given the job of Brexit Secretary to pacify the hard right . He always lacked the intellectual capacity to do the job and dismissed the information given to him by The Treasury because he couldn't understand it ! David Davis was a third rate minister and an awful choice for Brexit Secretary. I cannot understand why anyone even bothers to interview him about anything anymore !

Anne Ann Widdecombe and David Davis discussing brass tacks common sense stuff which I believe most people in this country will go along with. Good reasons for optimism.

If David Davies did his job 2 years ago he wouldn't be pontificating on what should or shouldn't happen.He had two years,fucked about and achieved nothing. We had all the bargaining chips and all he,and the rest of the useless "negotiators"did was bend over and let Barnier and Juncker shaft us.

Hold on, if we are happily importing drugs from the EU, because they have been approved by the appropriate EU body and we are satisfied that they cut the mustard, then why on earth should we suddenly have a problem with them next year? Perhaps I’m missing something here.

Hey I'm English , I didn't get a vote , I live in France , my wife is German , she came to England , my son and daughter were born in Germany , and lived in England , then we found a home here, they speek three languages, and have studied for free here , and I have received state help at times , can't you see the difference ? I'm English, I'm not worried about loosing my identity. I've got people speaking french here and having their mates around , it's not of any concern to me , it's very interesting .

I think David Davis resigned from Brexit secretary more than because of PMs Chequers option, she wanted him to retain the Good Friday agreement and when he realised it wasn't working with his plan (Cananda option), he decided to resign.

Dyson wants us out of the EU so that he can avoid the tariffs placed on businesses whose production is made in countries (Asia) outside of the EU. Zero tariffs would mean more profit to Mr Dyson and his foreign businesses. However those tariffs protect UK/EU businesses employing people within the UK/EU who find it difficult to compete with low wage economies. Dyson cleaners use more power and the regulations came into place for several reasons one of which was a move to reduce EU emissions so that we could try and meet our Paris Climate targets - That ladies and gentlemen is one of the many reasons regulations are a useful tool to tame businesses who are (rightly so) more interested in the bottom line. Don't always believe what you are told by the well educated, smart suited professional politicians and businessmen.

@Telephassa Rose so when are you going to back EU / UK manufacturing or are you just happy to hoover your house and walk around his lovely farm. I take it you're not that bothered with UK Manufacturing jobs being put first!!!

So your happy that a UK firm with its development center in the UK, gets penalized by the EU, to favour a company that makes inferior products? If a 500w Dyson does a better job in 5 minutes , than a EU approved 400w crapvac does in 10 minutes - which is saving the planet more genius? and sure Dyson could manufacture here in the UK - if YOU want to pay the costs passed on, while all his competitors , have theirs made in Taiwan anyway? "we have to work LIKE the Chinese - or we'll end up working FOR the Chinese"

It is all irrelevant. Simply no deal .We then give the EU an option .1 free trade deal .result. job sorted let's move on .option 2 ,we have a reciprocal tariff deal whatever they wish. They sell way more to us than they do we do to them.so this could be comical .We can sell to any EU businesses at free trade prices the government then pay the tariff which is way more than compensated by any EU reciprocal tariff. We then get a massive contribution from the EU with the excess tariffs. hilarious I know but true .the EU will probably prefer option 2 I know I do lol .as this is the only way this corrupt organisation can keep other member states together. They won't care a dot that their people will fund our country for evermore as long as this EU parliament keeps getting paid .

I don't understand why people always talk about the german car industry. You realize that they had now 2 years time to search for alternative vendors for their parts? Furthermore you could google the term "consignment stock" and "warehouse". I hope for the suppliers that they have the contracts in EUR and not in GBP in case of another course fluctuation.
