SP Lives, the 1501 still has its Gyro Lights and P3 Horn

Sad to see them leave Caltrain, but the Stadlers will benefit the railroad. Hopefully, someone will buy them. I would love to see cab rides on them from another operator. Great video!

If they're in good condition, it shouldn't be too hard to find a buyer, though it might take a while.

The other 32 cars that are over there are sadly in rough condition, but these ones that came in recently are in relatively better shape!

I rode in those cars 5 days a week for 2 years back in the early 2000s when I worked at Motorola. A lot of memories. If I recall correctly, the cars are stamped early 80s' Japan. Wait a sec...how did those cars get from Townsend depot to Napa????
@sjrailfan35Ай бұрын
Lots of memories on those cars for sure! Caltrain brought the cars from SF to San Jose, Union Pacific took them from San Jose to Fairfield to get interchanged to a shortline railroad called California Northern, who brought them from Fairfield to Napa, where they would get picked up by NWP to be taken to their storage location in Schellville.
@lalakersproАй бұрын
@@sjrailfan35 im guessing they used the capitol corridor route to Fairfield? Is there a direct connection to the NWP, or is it an isolated railroad where they have to manually lift the cars and place them on the track?
@sjrailfan3529 күн бұрын
Indeed they did. And yes, there is a direct connection with the NWP. California Northern would pick up cars destined for the NWP in Fairfield and take them to Lombard Jct for NWP to pick up.
@KennethStoneАй бұрын
Cool, thanks! I wonder what’s going to happen to them. I also wonder why some of the doors were open.

As of now, they are in storage for the unforseeable future until another railroad has interest in buying them.

Are these Caltrain Gallery Cars are going to be scrapped just like Bart?

They are there for storage until a railroad has interest in buying them, which I’m not sure when that will be.

I have no idea honestly! There's a whole bunch of gallery cars and like 7 F40's sitting on what's called the drill track located between College Park and Santa Clara.

@@sjrailfan35 And to top it off, I have never seen a switcher locomotive pull so many cars before. I always thought they would pull a minimum of 3 to 5 per set, but a whole consist?! Talk about taking it up a notch!
