Former Chelsea and Luton footballer Kerry Dixon joins Nigel Farage for Talking Pints

Love Kerry Dixon so much so that I named one of my sons after him, he was my idol and he gave me so many incredible moments as a Chelsea supporter in the 1980s My two favourite memories are his favourites too I believe and I was there for both occasions Kerry s goal at Highbury in 84 what a goal, it was our first game after promotion and we had 20,000 there, just look at that away end erupt in the clock end it was like bees swarming in the sun and that moment that he talks about at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi Final against Luton with 50,000 Chelsea supporters singing there’s only one Kerry Dixon as he went off down the tunnel it was a massive respect shown by the Chelsea supporters just letting him know that he was always in our hearts I also met Kerry Dixon in Mexico not in 85 as he said but 86 at The World Cup him and a load of England players chatting to us in The Azteca we were bottom tier with a giant St George Cross flag with Chelsea across it The man is a Chelsea legend a great goalscorer who had a fantastic partnership with Dave Speedie he was a natural especially in the air, those crosses from Pat Nevin and Kerry would nod them home Glad to see him back I bought his book it’s a fantastic read, and he did a intro for my channel on KZbin ChelseaSW6 those headlines week in week out Kerry Gold he was a total Chelsea legend, part of our illustrious history “ there’s only one Kerry Dixon “

He was a brilliant player, for chelsea, then my club signed him, southampton. He was way past his best by then and thats being polite. Good to see him in good health though.

Great finisher, he had an abductor muscle injury at the peak of his career that killed his pace. Never quite the same after that 9when he could have been world class) but still managed to score regularly at the top level even after that. There was a lot of competition in those days with Lineker and Hateley, Beardsley, Smith, (Even Trevor Francis and Paul Mariner up to '86), Walsh, Stein, Harford, Regis, Blissett etc I think George Graham and Ron Atkinson tried to sign him before he got injured.

Kerry made his name at Reading before going to Chelsea. A great centre forward.

Kerry could score goals for fun. Watched him live, always scored against my team when i was a lad in the 80s . Great player and comes across as a decent fella.
