Hey man, I like your comment, however, when it comes full on down to a SFODD operator, they are not all big, buff, barel chested freedom fighter hit men. You would be surprised to see smaller elite operators who you would never ever spot because that is their job, blending in all areas is the most important part of their trade craft. Most D-Men you will never see coming and by then it's way to late. Never take to heart the misinfo that was truly intended for guys like you and else where to thinks all D-Men are stout and yoked to give the enemy a fright. But yes, there are some who fit the profile you said. Anyhow, freeing the oppressed requires all types of elite warriors my friend.

Great interview. I was fortunate to meet one of the first Delta guys ( Herman ) in Arizona. We went to a kettle corn roast fair with his wife . He inspired me enough that I became an infantry officer in the Canadian primary reserves . As a design consultant I've struggled to manage that money side of business .....I think this is a common problem for people who just want to help folk out . I literally have done junk removal simply to not have to take an office job Soni can free to do my creative work. Made hundreds of millions for others mind you lol.

Truth be told, this category of Soldier is chosen because he is can operate on his own and within a team under very extreme situations whilst still maintaining a level head (Very few people can do this). He also has to be capable of making vital and difficult decisions instantly whilst under intense pressure. Soldiering at this level has very little to do with any form of moral judgement, as these Soldiers are professionals. They work off a simple set of principles: Expect each mission to have unforeseen problems, Adapt and continue until the objective is achieved, Bring everyone home alive.

IMO delta vs other operators is delta guys though exceptional in all areas exhibit and understand one thing at a higher level than the other operators and that one thing is humility. Despite who they are (external viewpoint) they know who they are (internal viewpoint). This is not to say humility is not attributed to other operators just that Delta guys have a tad more of it or at a minimum at least understand it. They won't get in your face unless they have to. Some seals can be pretty humble guys too, experience, but not in general.

Not so much a life lesson, but it hits on the psy-op's he didn't hit on early in the interview. I was fortunate enough to have a section leader when I was training for SFAS, that came from group. A good leader to say the least. We attended the same delta brief. I was too young to drop my school packet. He, however did.

moviedude22 Just google books about "Delta Force" and you'll find some good ones. IMO the most reliable book out there about JSOC is "Relentless Strike" by Sean Naylor. It contains plenty of information about The Unit, DEVGRU, and other JSOC units that you can't find elsewhere. Some of it will blow your mind...

yep, modern american snipers, the unit, delta force, the mission, the men and me, not a good day to die, relentless strike, kill bin laden, first in, jawbreaker, .... Just the ones I've read that are directly or partly about CAG. There's a little bit out there if you do your homework. That means cracking open a book though guys! That's where you'll find the interesting stuff that is innovative and bold. They are definitely outside the box thinkers and seem to be different, in my outsiders opinion but having a little familiarity with the community, than the other units out there because they are older and more cerebral looking for the easiest and least intrusive method vs the loud and proud methods that other units favor. But there's no coincidence that most of the operators come from the Regiment as the fortitude that is needed to get through the pipeline and the intensity of the life is fostered in that group of hard motherfuckers. The evolution of the Regiment is just as interesting IMHO and can be considered "Delta Lite" as they are used on the same DA raids and SR missions that used to be the lone missions of CAG/St6. Read, it's out there!

All these SOF guys are kick ass dudes. Here's the best way we can answer your question: there are SEALs and then there is SEAL Team 6. There is Special Forces/Green Berets and then there is Delta Force. SEAL Team 6 is top tier, Delta is top tier. None better or crazier than the next, just many different areas of expertise. Delta Force is the most elite of the U.S. Special Operations units but don't get the credit they deserve. Think about this, Delta operators never tryout to become Seals, however you'll have Seals try out to become a Delta Operator. Also, before there was SEAL Team 6 there was Delta Force. If you don't believe what I just stated...look it up.
