Former FTC chair unpacks Amazon antitrust lawsuit

The Federal Trade Commission and 17 states sued Amazon on Tuesday claiming it operates an illegal monopoly. William Kovacic, former head of the FTC from 2008 to 2009, joins CBS News to analyze the lawsuit.

That’s not what FTC is saying. FTC is saying that Amazon isn’t giving you lower costs, and is instead giving you higher costs by forcing sellers to jack up prices outside of Amazon lest they be blacklisted. Regardless of whether or not they’re right about that, it is what they’re saying.

Moreover, the prices from retailers on amazon have been going up to offset the cost of doing business on amazon and the immense cuts they take from the sales. Its too big and its anti competitive

The comments from people that have really know idear how business works is wild. Also Amazon has changed how we do online business for consumers as well, and for the better I might add. Like faster delivery's and a much better return policy. This is so American, some comes up with a good idear, does a good job of implementing it and if the competition can't keep up, they sue. All that money that goes in this, should go toward people that can't afford health care in you country, or even better the lawsuit should go against the insurance company's that make it almost impossible for some to go to the doctor when needed. This just is ridicules.

Lock downs did nothing good or necessary for society and I am a nurse. I didn't sit home and act fearful. I am still here after dealing with thousands with Covid. Let that marinate in your little brain.
