❤”This has nothing to do with affordability. This has to do with love.” Iconic. That quote is legendary. That hit my core so hard that I have tears welling up as I type. To the person/s that said “is that all you can afford?” I don’t know you. But perhaps the only component you value in a luxury item is its price tag. Or its prestige/status symbol. And that’s fine. I respect that. That element does in fact exist! Others define it by a well crafted item that lasts 100 years .. like the old Burberry trench coats, Scottish kilts, Japanese knives.. Others define it as something rare … some manuscripts, or Maltese lace, or even Chanel’s actual sewing kit, her needle and thread To the buyer, the price is a fraction of the value. And we all have different tastes, different cultures and different values. We see patina, you see old filth. You say,”is that all you can afford?” I say,”Clearly, money doesn’t buy class.”
@bostonandbeyondfrenchbulld7335 Жыл бұрын
This makes me so upset. That is a beautiful bag , expensive and from a luxury brand. It may be on the lower end of the house’s product, but it is luxury nonetheless. And, if that was all you could afford, let’s say, then so be it and congratulations for being able to acquire it. That person or people who feel the need to shade others and make them potentially feel insecure about their purchases, they are so proud of, shame on them. I have middle school daughters that have been bullied by peers who are jealous of their happy home life. So much that they have been reduced to tears multiple days a week. These children are the products of the bully/hater adults that are then on our forums here. Stay strong and beautiful . We need people with your platform to call out these beasts and help end this absurdity. Love you!
@SuperDacob Жыл бұрын
So sorry your daughters had to go through such bullying! Tell them to stay strong and move on with their heads held high because if we are bullied, you know we have something amazing others that bully us are envious of and wish to have too. Bullying is all about projecting. The trolls hate themselves and try to use us as their self loathing punching balls. We can defeat them but not allowing them to silence us and not allowing them to stop us from shining our light. 🌅🌅🌅🙏🏻💖💖💖

I can never afford an Hermes quota bag,which is ok bec even tho their leather might be the best out there, I don't really like their bags. I cannot also afford Chanel but I do love the rectangular shape and flap(not the double flap)design. Besides my LV canvas bags I'm loving the YSL Kate design, I find their interlocking letters logo sexy than loud. I just got the YSL Kate Reversible with lambskin leather and it feels so luxuriously soft. It's good to learn about Hermes or Chanel as a bag lover though,thank you for your thorough research and love for this topic.

For me, luxury is craftsmanship, usability and comfort. I do like Hermes philosophy that application and use of the item is paramount. It comes from their tack making background. Performance of the item is essential. It has to work. Because of this, most luxury items I can easily pass on. I have several extra special saddles. They have to fit the rider and the horse. The leather is beautiful and I LOVE when they become worn and get so much depth from years of polishing. It’s lovely to hear about your wonderful little bag. I totally understand.

Loving that little black hermes bag. It’s timeless & very practical. I might have a crack at asking them for one next time Im in London. See what happens 🙃 I would love to see some of your older pieces from you handbag collection. I was in Heathrow terminal 3 Hermes last summer & a man bowled in, stood in the doorways and was like ‘have you got any bags?’ I was cringing on his behalf . They said no. Not sure if that was just a no for him or if it would be a no for everyone 🤣
@SuperDacob Жыл бұрын
Hahaha that scene from Heathrow sounds like an 80’s comedy movie scene. Love it 😂😂💖 The Aline bag is not rare in the cotton version but it is quite seldom in any leather and black is the most hard to fund for some reason but one can always ask. But in general, if they show you an Aline bag in another color but still in lambskin, be sure to touch it and feel how soft and buttery it feels. Its a wonderful experience. 🥰🥰🥰

I’m sure you have Hermes things before but this is the first time I heard you talk about “journey”. Sorry I’ve been away ❤❤❤ living for the Hermes content
@SuperDacob Жыл бұрын
Hahaha thanks dear. I love to make fun of the journey because I don’t see a birkin or kelly as my journey goals. I don’t care particularly about those two bags. Plus they don’t make them anymore in the leathers I want them in so it doesn’t even matter. I am just really enjoying the wonderful product quality I have had so far at Hermes and I am also enjoying the slower pace in which everything at Hermes works. Each product I have purchased from them always took a long time to be available or it took me longer to think about it but the cool thing is that each product was attainable in the end. All one needs is patience. I really enjoy that about Hermes, at least with the products I want for myself. Other brands mostly play with fomo factors and seasonal tricks while Hermes always makes me feel safe about the classic pieces. They will always be available so one has time to buy them bit by bit and to enjoy them instead of buying a ton of things all at once because of fomo. Coincidentally, since I also only love LV heritage monogram pieces, I feel similar at LV and take my time to buy the classics bit by bit. LV lacks in quality though so its sometimes difficult to find a perfect flawless piece but other than that LV is also in my heart for the more robust travel accessories and beauty cases in monogram canvas. 💖🥂

This was a super video Dacob! I got to say though we met a pushy sales associate at Hermes. My mom was browsing the jewelry, scarves, and watches. Great video - thank you! But I would have to disagree with you on two points : (1) the ultimate luxury is health. As someone who has been in great health until last year (and has now been in and out of the hospital 12 times over the past year), without good health, it doesn’t matter how much “time” you have! And (2) with regard to the perfume issue … have you considered the fact that “they” are not trying to squelch your individuality as much as take into consideration the fact that so many people are now suffering from allergies? I can’t even walk down the cleaning aisle without needing oxygen and once walked through a reception area where so many women were wearing perfume that I passed out and the paramedics had to be called. Just some food for thought…
@SuperDacob Жыл бұрын
Health gone means you are out of the time when you were healthy. Again time is the luxury that one cannot afford while health is gone or deteriorated. This to me means that time is a superior luxury to health. Health can be brought back hopefully if one is treated properly and if a medication exists but time can never be brought back. So time is the biggest luxury. I am allergic to cats and most dogs and a lot of grasses and so on. There are remedies I need to take and I do so. I do not tell all other people to not own a pet just because I have allergies. Food for thought.

Its a classic case of gamification and scarcity with some manipulation. When you finally get offered a quota bag you ignore that you were basically manipulated with some "journey" story because your endorphins are running high flooding all of your pleasure centers that YOU achieved something - their recognition, their something. Its brilliant really.

I believe it only becomes a luxury when you can enjoy and appreciate it, regardless of how much it costs. And it seems like you enjoy everything you own, regardless of the price. And regardless of whether the pieces are popular or not. That's wonderful, not everyone can do it, like you explained. It's a shame that there are people who badmouth the things you love. They must be very superficial people. I suspect these are the kind of people who leave a lovable mixed-breed dog who desperately needs a place in the animal shelter, even though they know he will be put down the next day, and would rather get an expensive dog in a fancy breed from a breeder. And then they call themselves “animal lovers”.

I am sorry to disappoint you, but it’s not Harrods only with this policy: no red nails, no red lipsticks. I live in Switzerland and a friend of mine works for Tod‘s, she worked for MCM (not a high end brand either), where they had this uniform, where muted colors were used for makeup and nails. Which makes me think, that all of the SAs I meet here - Hermès, Tiffany‘s, YSL, Chanel, Dior - they seem to have the same policy. You should not distract from what you are presenting to the client. They wear a uniform, they wear subtle accessories (all but in Tiffany‘s) and it’s OK. It’s not abuse, it’s not suppressing the SA, it’s absolutely normal. I wouldn’t have a problem with the rules.

You misunderstood dear. She did not get hired because she came to the job interview with red lipstick on. A job interview is not a day of work on the sales floor. It is conducted in an office and if you get hired then they tell you when your first day of work is going to be as well as tell you what to wear and how your appearance should be on the sales floor, including makeup or no makeup and so on. You do understand the difference here right?

I think I understand the bias against red lipstick. Having worked as a flight attendant in the Middle East, our grooming standards required us to wear red lipstick, and to be honest, especially during Ramadan, I was not comfortable wearing it. The way men in other parts of the world look at you when you're a woman and you have red lipstick on, really not comfortable. I felt for our Moroccan Crew, who already had the reputation of prostitutes in the Gulf countries, and that red lipstick didn't do them any favours! My way around this was to wear terracotta red or plum red instead, and I kept the red lipstick in my crew handbag, in case a grooming officer or cabin manager said something about my lipstick. I would quickly put the "official" one on, which only happened a few times.

Some workplaces don't like people to wear perfume because it bothers some people. Some people get headaches. And honestly some perfume wearers put on way too much. I find it funny because some employees will go outside once an hour to have a cigarette, and they come in reeking.

thank you for putting together this very informative video. I love the look of Hermes boots tbh esp the the jumping shorter boot and the ankle boot in tan colour. I haven't dared to enter the shop, maybe I will, just for the boots. Also as for USA state...sigh, they often like to pull one of their 'rights to own guns' , 'rights to do this and that' ...I really really pray that Australia does not become like them....but unfortunately Aust is their little brother.

Hermès SAs make pretty decent money, all my SAs post mid to high 7 figures yearly sale numbers and take home 6 figures (salaries and commissions). If this Joanna made only Okay money, perhaps we need to ask her why she wasn't that good at her job!
@SuperDacob Жыл бұрын
When she says the salary was average, we also need to consider what is average to her and what would be an average luxury retail salary in London, with their high cost of living in general.

Got an offer for a bag when I bought a couple of orans and a passport holder. Not a QB but I wasn’t interested. I may be the one person who wasn’t looking for a bag in that store hahaa (I am in Asia BTW so I dunno where the idea of scarcity in Asia is from)

I stopped watching many of those KZbinrs constantly unboxing. They have so many bags it doesn’t feel special anymore. Their content is no longer interesting. True luxury should be understated, not flash your cash.

I agree! Like lvlovercc. I can’t watch her videos as much anymore, it’s just become extreme overconsumption at this point. No taste. No one person needs as much stuff as she constantly buys. I’m starting to think she has a severe shopping addiction the amount she shops and unboxes, it is tone deaf and unhealthy. Perhaps overcompensating for some ugly things lying underneath all the plastic surgery, she should probably go spend some of that money on therapy.

i have to disagree with you about paying politicians, especially presidents, minimum wage: that just invites corruption and not the people you want for such a job that needs integrity and stamina to resist the capitalism-olympics.
@SuperDacob Жыл бұрын
Thats why they should not be allowed the donations and any kind of extras from any private companies, ever during their active political lives. And just by the way… politicians in government get paid a lot and there still is corruption so the path of paying them very well is also not working. So theres that 🤷🏻♂️
@10secondsofmylife Жыл бұрын
@@SuperDacob yes, i know what certain politicians get paid, since at least in most western and democratic countries a quick google search is suffice to find that out for many positions. they get paid ok in my opinion. fact is: power corrupts either way. i have no solution to this issue, but paying them poorly is not a solution either.

I’ve really enjoyed your content and agreed, and even cheered, for your arguments. However I think you really misunderstood the pharma industry. Ive worked in pharma for 15+ years and now in the leadership level. Pharma is highly highly regulated and most companies uphold really high level of value and integrity, and desire to put patients in the front of every decision. We are almost OCD ensuring we do the right things and make decisions such that our conscience agrees. There may be a few bad apples in the past history, but you cannot judge the whole industry. Stereotyping and making up the conspiracy theory is not cool, and make your comments sound undereducated. Not throwing shades at all. But I think the hard work we put in for patients, and not to mention everyone who needed medicine at some point of life (that includes everyone basically), deserves a voice of justice.
@SuperDacob Жыл бұрын
Then stop charging astronomical prices for life saving medicines that do not cost so much to manufacture and don’t cost so much in other countries outside the US. I would have a ton more to say but here is not the place. Maybe you have been working in that field too much and you are now mislead about their true intentions.
