In other words, gay people can repent like liars, thieves, gossips, ect. We christians surrendered to this notion that homosexuals can't change "who they are" but we forget we are supposed to change who we are by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2) and finding our identity in Christ.

No we did not. Christians, who know the word of god, did not fall for this period we did not forget anything. The remnant, true believers, has never been the masses of people following a mere culture or false ideologies instead of God. God's word makes it CLEAR. Until you identify as CHRIST'S, you are not saved. That applies to all sins owning you... not just homosexuality and cross-dressing! You are either an alcoholic or a Christian. You are either a homosexual or a Christian. You are either an adulterer or a Christian. You are either a gossip or a Christian. Jesus Christ isn't interested in a mere portion of you. You desire either Jesus or something else. You might sin again...but you are no longer that sin, nor hang out in that sin. When you give all of yourself to Him, you are no longer that sin's slave. That's what he came for. Enslaving yourself to Jesus makes you free finally.

The only so called Christians who believe that people cannot change are cultural "Christians" who claim Christianity as a culture but have no understanding of what being a Christian means. I would distance myself from it and not call it "my sin". I'd call it "sin" that I'm doing or just disobedience. It's a struggle I know, but you cannot convince God that you want to win the fight without distancing your self from it and repenting, even if you fall into the trap time and again. God gives a helping hand with freedom from sin when he sees you are absolutely honest with yourself and after much sweat, struggle and requests for help. That's my experience with it.

It basically comes down to a choice: who do you love more, yourself or Jesus? That choice is one that everyone, gay or straight, has to make. Homosexuality is just one of a thousand identities that humans are deceived into adopting. This is exactly what Jesus was talking about when he said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it." (Luke 9:23-24) Denial of self, whatever that self may be, is the key.

I understand what you’re trying to say, but I think you missed the whole point. Blindness is not a behavior or a desire in contrary to sexuality. Sin means “miss aiming God”. So, the main reason why the LGBT community is offended is because in their world view, we don’t criticize their actions, but themselves. And that’s a foresight knowledge to have, because we are not to judge people, but to love them and if we love them, we should make the call if we see and know they are making mistakes. @user-hr8dx9qw4n even if you take away religion, it's very clear that homosexuality is not the purpose of the reason for our creation. If it were, we'd be able to procreate with members of the same sex. Should the 7 billion people alive choose to be homosexual right now , we'd go existinct. It's just not a viable option for continuing the human race. Now enter in religion. If we truly were made by a God, it's clear by the nature of our creation that man and woman we're meant to be together. If a God created us for that purpose then it'd only make sense that anything else would be incorrect. One last thing I'd like to point out is that while Cheistians do believe that homosexuality is "wrong" I'd say that, for the most part, you're not going to get random Christians condemning you publicly should you choose to participate in a homosexual relationship. At least, at this point in time. Christianity, in it's original form, is supposed to lead one to be kind, loving, understanding, and non-judgemental. There are some who clearly do not reflect that and will use doctrine or teachings as a way to put themselves above others, morally. But just ignore those people.

The "My feelings are me" mentality. If anything, I'd say that the way they're reacting is like a stage of possession. As there is an element of a need to break free from the hold. There definitely needs to be more of an emphasis of what people are not and the ability to separate or detach themselves from their feelings/ideas/etc. There definitely needs to be some coaching involved for the younger generation to learn that certain states are just temporary, and that what they generate, say ideas, are not them.

This comes down to more than just this 'style' of identifying yourself. Do you give up on trying to remember things by saying "I'm forgetful", or do you take steps to improve your memory? Note-taking, for example. Do you give up on getting work done because "I'm lazy", or do you try to grab hold of gratitude and push to get things done anyway? Do you give up on concentration, because "I have this or that condition", or do you take steps to counteract distractions and foster discipline? ---- Do you give up on witnessing because "I don't know everything" or "I'm too easily frightened" or "I mess up?" What of Christ - who died to set us free? Is He not worth sharing, even in some small way? Were His promises of strength, and the fact that He has already won, not sufficient? There is time for rest, don't get me wrong. But remember eternity - the wrath to come, which we sinners rightly deserve, and the mercy of our Savior given freely to all who call upon Him. People need the Lord. I've a long way to go, but Jesus is faithful.

Not to mention what the Catholics and Protestants did for liberalism in general. Why stop now? You believe in it too if you accept this history. Will you acknowledge at least that much? That's the problem though with the people of the LGBT community. They don't like the idea of their "identity" being "sin" as they always use the excuse "that's just the way I was born". No it isn't, you just FEEL that way about yourself.. it's not that God WILLED for you or you were somehow genetically predisposed to be gay or trans, you just FEEL that way to such a high extent because society says it's okay to act on your desires and excuses behaviors that were once obviously frowned upon. You can't control what gender your crushes are, and you can't control feeling like you are in the wrong body, but you CAN control what you do about that attraction AND that feeling of being trapped in the wrong gender/body. The LGBT just want to extend where the dividing line is between morality and immorality until anyone is just free to do or feel whatever they want, turning a complete blind eye to God's plan. Homosexuality is a healthy natural sexual orientation with an evolutionary meaning. If it was caused by psychological influences, it could be changed to heterosexual in a therapy, but it cant. Thats what we know for sure. So its innate. Why did it come up in evolution? There is a permanent share of 90-96% heterosexuals and 4-10% share of homosexuals in all living beings with sexuality since 385 million years. The reason is the evolutionary advance through several factors, for example: Same-sex sexuality evolved by natural selection because it created or strengthened male-male alliances and female-female alliances and mutual social benefit to all the animals in the tribe, better survive better defense, better social interaction. There are interesting studies about it.

What demonstrable harm is caused by homosexuality?
@Blue_Ocean7208 ай бұрын
The Scriptures say sexual sin is sinning against yourself so that is one example I can think of in terms of why biblically we shouldn’t do it. We also need to consider Gods intended design for us and how we may be cheating ourselves out of a better alternative life. Trusting that God knows better than we do is hugely important for discerning that. None of his rules are arbitrary and some were made for our benefit. As Jesus said the Man was not made for the Sabbath but the Sabbath was made for man. The problem lies in us having trouble trusting in some of Gods rules because we can’t see life from every angle the way he can, and that’s why a deeper digging of truth and relationship with God is necessary for finding answers to lifes questions.

I do not agree with this man. You do not have to dwell on a specific sin like homosexuality. Pick another, like lying, or using God's name in vain, or theft. All they need to know is that they are a sinner that needs to be saved and then what it takes to be saved. Let us not be fooled! We do not want to be one of those who will be turned away on that day when men stand before God. The way is narrow, and the road is straight, and FEW be that find it. Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Verse 22 MANY will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Verse 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it. Our sin has set us all on the road to hell and no amount of good will fix the sin we have done. We have ALL sinned. It is not about the type of sin or how much sin. It is about the fact that we have sinned. For that reason we all need a Savior. If we want forgiveness for our sin and peace with God. If we want to escape eternal hell. If we want to go to heaven we must understand the following. We DO NOT get saved (go to heaven), get right with God, forgiven, by being good, by being religious, by just believing in God, by praying a prayer, being baptized, asking or accepting Jesus into our hearts, accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour, confessing our sins, joining a church, cleaning up our lives, doing penance, taking the bread and the wine, or doing all these things accumulative. Salvation is a gift that is given to those who repent and come to faith. Eph. 2:8,9 Salvation takes repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Acts 20:21. testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Make no mistake. We cannot be a friend of Christ and remain a rebel against God and unless we repent we remain a rebel. The word repent, from the Greek word “metanoia”, means a change of mind or direction. God is not receiving those who almost or kind of repents. It is like the word About-face which is a 180 degree turn. We turn from not wanting God fully in our lives to willfully surrendering to Him to lead our lives. When any person comes to the place where they are broken over their sin toward God to the point that they want to get right with God no matter what it will cost them they are in a state/spirit of repentance toward God. Luke 14:33 Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. The repentant heart would walk away from anything or any one to get right with God. We then take that willing repentant heart we have towards God and place it on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Master, because He paid the price for our sin, and that becomes faith. At that moment God’s grace through Christ is freely applied to us and we are born again, saved from eternal hell and sealed by the Spirit so that we will never again return to the practice of sinning. 1John 3:9,10. Our first command after salvation is to be baptized. Repentance of sin is the result of the new birth/salvation and will be part of the sanctification process and our new life with the Lord Jesus Christ, Eph 2:10. While we may sin from time to time after salvation it will never again be our practice 2Cor. 5:17, 1John 3:9,10. John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. REV. 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. It all boils down to are we sorry/broken enough over our sins against God and do we want to get our hearts right with Him or not. Let us be sure that tomorrow does not belong to us.

The gay lifestyle for starters. It cheapens love and the relationship with your peers. Sex is supposed to be the glue that strengthens that one special relationship between 2 people who already love each other. If you're bedding 3 different people every weekend, you lose that close bond. It damages you emotionally, and all the people you sleep with, and it cheapens it. Rather than a transcendent experience of love, sex is then reduced to just another carnal pleasure like eating and drinking, and people are reduced to mere sex objects.

@@stephenkeen6044 It's quite *ironic* that you quoted me saying "if you take your religion and bible out the equation" and then procede to _bring your religion and bible into it._ There is question that might be the most important one when it comes to this thematic since it will clearly shows where you stand, the question being "Why do you/why don't you believe?" Since belief at the end of the day is a question of faith, if you take out the bible and religion....why do you believe? Answer that and you might understand why i said that. Also God didn't "wrote" anything, the bible is nothing more than a psychological and spiritual book, written in parables and allegories form, to try to make sense of what we all know but, either can't understand, can't acknowledge or simply don't remember that we know. God bless you for saying this. It cannot be stressed enough how paramount this is! My gut in all of this has been, this is it? This is all there is to you? 'Sex'? Of course it is not. Thus the point of the question to help the beloved examine things in light of truth. To think this thing through, with the light and grace of the Holy Spirit.

Absolutely. We need more of this understanding. I see a lot of videos of street preachers at LGBT parades who, although seem to be "spreading the Word", come at these people with judgement disgust, anger, and hate. And of course, the conversations are futile and escalate to arguments. We are called to hate our own sin, but not ourselves. So are we also called to hate others' sin, but not themselves. Maintaining compassion for their confusion and self-rejection.

@@pastorbri my only complaint was use of ESV, but he walks the class through the arguments that lgbtq people use as well as other sexual deviancy, and how scripture disproves them, and how to reach them with the gospel. Good course for sure.

90% of people under 30 support gay marriage, and almost 80% of people under 50 support gay marriage. You’ve lost the battle. Within one or two generations, everyone will look back on people like you as primitive and immoral, like we now see the Christians who used the Bible to justify slavery. Be better. At the very least, mind your own business.

YES. I’ve always said this to other believers. People already know our stance as Christians, but why? We can NEVER root our identity in anything other than God or we will come up short. Our race, profession, gender, role as a mom/dad, ministry are part of what describes us but it does not define us. God’s child, made in his image to dwell in his presence and live a life that glorifies him. That is who we are.

I understand this so much. And it’s been interesting talking to people online who’ve bought into this doctrine. I was born with a disability and it’s one that’s in my brain. It’s been a wild ride so far in life-I’m a millennial so it feels like I’ve seen this from the ground up, before the craziness and the development of it and afterwards-but they always bring up that it’s who they are and then I ask them if my brain disability that’s incurable and had since birth is who I am and suddenly they’re backpedaling so fast it’s comical. The truth is we live in a broken world. This includes our own bodies. I’ve known this since I was born. Many people do. However so many people today are deluding themselves into believing that there’s no such thing as having difficult conditions. But, that’s unfortunately the truth. It’s not the end of the world though to have a difficult condition. It’s really not. But I can understand why our secular world does find it to be the end of the world-because without God it is a lot to bear. I’ve believed in God for a long time and every difficulty I have faced in life-and there have been many, some are 24/7 difficulties such as having chronic pain-they all can’t measure up to God.

I could not agree more. When out evangelizing and I run into someone claiming to be gay”, the first thing my mind says is, “No, you are not”. They have been led to believe, by the culture, that this is who they are. My line of reasoning with them is not about their sexuality but about their conditioning by the culture.
@Volleyball_Chess_and_Geoguessr8 ай бұрын
Ummm I think there really are people that feel things. I know Christians think everyone is or should be robots exactly like them. Die to yourself and all become like one. It's culty. Your feelings are invalid. Assimilate.
@CSUnger8 ай бұрын
The phenomenon of homosexuality has a lot of variables to it so I wouldn’t categorize it simply as “a lot of people really do have feelings”. Today’s culture, unlike previous times, is now celebrating, embracing, and promoting the idea that one’s sexual feelings (your term) defines them and, in the absence of moral safeguards which used to be in place, many young people are buying into that deception. Christians are not robots. We have to face the same struggles of life that everyone else has to. We’ve simply decided to follow a different path than the one the world presents. It’s funny but your ending sentences describe what the world is telling young people today. We Christians just see through the lies.
@Volleyball_Chess_and_Geoguessr8 ай бұрын
@@CSUnger No I totally agree with you that our culture is pushing this hard for some reason and there are a lot of people coming out as trans that probably otherwise wouldn't and then go on to regret it, and have permanent changes to their bodies, so I think it's harmful in that way. I do, however, think that gender dysphoria is a real thing, as is being gay. I don't think two consenting gay adults are hurting anyone though, and I do think that a primitive culture is putting its moral ideas into today because of religion.
@CSUnger8 ай бұрын
Well, keep in mind that gender dysphoria is a psychological dysfunction. It’s not an indicator of a healthy sexual development but a regression. The question we should be asking ourselves is why is our culture demanding that it be treated as a viable lifestyle instead of with compassion? Try to keep in mind that the “primitive” culture you speak of gave us Western Civilization which is now unraveling as fast as we are abandoning and rejecting that culture.
