So their stores will change once the kpop nerd thing dies down lol who knows what’s next. HT follows the hottest trends of the years. That's why goth, scene, and punk is no more, or well, not as prominent as it was. I just recently stepped foot in a HT and I did see punk/goth-inspired clothing but not much. I believe scene, goth, and punk will come back to HT. I remember the early 2000's when Tripp pants and trench coats adorned the walls. Displays of SLG comics and books by Voltaire, and Joseph Vargo. I would pick up change I would find around town and used it to fund my comic collections (most cost $2.95@HT). One day I walked in and NONE of that awesome stuff existed anymore. It makes sense trends change, and stores have to keep up with it. I miss the 2000's goth :( with my art I still try my best to keep it going. Goth, scene, and punk is not dead it's more underground nowadays.

@@zimmylolz7702yes. What I mean is that the reason why Hot Topic isn’t the same as it was like 15 years ago is because they’re evolving with the trends for MONEY. I understand people’s points, but they’re acting like as if Hot Topic became a clone of Aeropostale or Hollister, when in reality it just became more of a pop culture store that still has its punk/emo roots. But if they want a store that caters to specifically scene and emo kids, they can make their own store. Like start off of an Etsy site and then go from there. It’s kinda like how goths have all of their own stores.

I didn't return until around 2017/2018 and i was surprised to see that the band tee section was just all the way at the back and so limited compared to the rest. sad day indeed. there wasn't even any screams going on in the music that was playing. that was the biggest sign to me ):

Hot topic at rivertown mall michigan, is still pretty alternative, it still has some pop culture stuff, but they realized how many emos/scene kids/goths/punk etc. Still shop there so they brought all the stuff back!

I only "discovered" Hot Topic in 2019-2020 at around 27 years of age I don't live in the USA and I couldn't possibly have access to it when I was 16 since Shopping online in my country wasn't as cheap and as accessible as it is today So right now I'm reliving my teenage years! I remember going to universal city walk in Hollywood and back then the hot topic had gargoyles on top with real fire coming from behind them with the old logo and everything then around 2011 I went for universal horror nights and then saw the change and was completely saddened.. and even my dad who worked at Barneys New York met I believe someone who was up there in hot topic and asked her what happened to all the band shirts and change and she said to keep up with the latest trends and market.... but now I noticed they started bringing back the older variety of band shirts like they used to probably since vintage style band shirts are the trend.

as a younger ish "said teen" I wish it was like how it was before I got to love it, hot topic is the only store I actually can roam free and just kinda exist in (with spacial awareness of course), and you can obviously tell not only by the way I dress but by the way I interact with others (not my other hot topic worshipping sub culture blurry lined between goth, punk. Weeb, and 80s kid dressing best freinds) bit the other students around me, like once I was askig my slightly strange freind "trinity" (yes this is her name but it's basic enough to not tell anything about her) about how would a fuby technically be a preditor considering there forward facing eyes and I eventually got to the topic of general furby mods such as long furbys and I found and amazingly dome nodded furb with a large mouth split right through he middle with excellently replaced green fur and Long gremlin legs (I'm talkin right out of the movie gremlins like those legs) and the girl next to me whose somehow acquainted with trinity (her name is very ambiguous being simply "paradise which ...while strange is very inconspicuous) and she goes ( in a "somewhat joking but now really" tine) your weird, qhy do I sit next to you, now to this day we still sit in general proximity at lunch and I still sit next to her in class but the question gave me a bit of a different...um..feeling about her I guess,Ike thers are other in my school that I knwo are like me that I am kinda like...eering to want to be Freinds with (I love my freinds and would never want to replace them in anyway as they helped me so much emotionally and mentally) but can't quite seem to grasp like thwrs this .girl...(very common and ambiguous name so I'll just say...uh...J here I guess) "J" who shares many interests with me and I did often talk to her in art (untill seats got mives today *of course* ..justasiwastrynamakeamove) and like, yeah I have terrible trouble finding thoese obscure hot topic kids ...just liek me....gosh that's gone on for too long, sorry I k wo no one will read this far but still nice to just type out into the abyss lile this there was still gonna be alot more but I'll quit for now
